NO 😆 . And as someone who believes in Krishna jee, reading that was a bit of a blow.😆
It means that, Jalal is capable of that spiritual deewangee. Intense &'pure devotion that only seeks solace in the love that spells worship of the Beloved, like that of Rukmini towards Krishna jee. 😳

It is meant to extol Jalal, by no means Jodha.

Because all Worship, underlines the Bhakt's virtue & devotion, not the Lord's form. 😊

No, that Jalal would be like Rukmini. An attachment of that kind is, as I have specifically noted, self-sufficient, and does not depend on the object deserving it.

If I was to choose anyone from the Srimad Bhagavatam who might be the closest fit for Jodha, it would be Satyabhama.

As I also noted somewhere in one of my responses earlier on this thread, I put in that nazm because it was so exquisite and I wanted to share it with those who might like Urdu poetry, not because it is ever going to be anything Jodha would be capable of feeling. Jalal, yes, Jodha never.

She is too prosaic, flat-footed, unimaginative, self-righteous and stiff-necked like a khaddoos schoolteacher. Her spirit will never soar, she would never be able to count the world well lost for anyone.

You know, if one were to take the saregamapadhanisa, Jodha, with her obsession with all her Ameri Sas - bapusa, maasa, dadisa, bhaisas, bhabhisas --- will never get past the first note!😉

Tripti my sweet,

What would I do without you to take care of everything for me? I did not see this before I posted my clarification above, or I nee not have done it all, for yours is just perfect. Especially @ blue.

However, I have amplified on this theme in my response, so take a look at it; it will amuse you, especially the very last sentence!😉

I wasn't trying to take care of anything for you Aunty 😆, I was just taken aback that someone was likening Jodha to Krishnajee. As someone who believes in him & Durga Maa, I felt it was more of my duty.

I read what you wrote, Liked it too. And chuckled a bit. 😆

Hmm yes Jodha is a good fit for Satyabhaamaa. A much more self-righteous fit . 🥱

Speaking of the Guruvayapoor Krishna jee, I've been there.
Beautiful. Peaceful.

Temples can be such peaceful sites. Must be all that chanting of mantras & intense energy in there. It has to have a lot of effect because it provides such peace!

Cases in point- Tirupati, Chintpurni temple & a tiny Kaali Maa temple in MP. 😳

Oh, and also the Chishti dargaah at Ajmer. What a place.

Tripti dear,

As usual, I agree with most of this, bar only one point, to which I will come presently.

As I wrote to Lashy above, Jalal obviously did not know of the Tulabhaaram programme ahead of time and definitely not when Jodha lands on him in the morning to harangue him as usual.

He must have been told of it later, and it is entirely possible that he does not approve of it, but cannot say so because it is his mother's idea.

It was a very silly and unnecessarily ostentatious event, inserted by the CVs for the sole purpose of having Jalal's single ring tip the scales. But Jalal might be thinking, and rightly so, of the reactions of his other begums, with Ruqaiya in the first place, to this tomfoolery.

I can bet you anything that 95% of those present there, with fake smiles plastered on, would NOT have liked it at all. Why would they like it? Who is Jodha anyway, and what has she done as yet for the Mughal sultanate except to nearly get Jalal killed by the tiger mauling? And then dragged him into the butparasti imbroglio in which he nearly lost his throne because of his association with her, even if not directly because of her? Plus they are expected t give her expensive gifts every year now? I bet half those velvet pouches would had stones in them!😉

The maulvis are also still there and they would not have taken kindly to all this foolish and unprecedented ostentation for a Hindu begum either.

So maybe Jalal is pensive thinking of the above and his mother's folly in starting all this. That is what I would do in his place.

As for Jalal's expression when he sees the Shahi Haar, I did not think it was one of distaste. It was more one of calculation. He feels that this might not impress Jodha as much as, say, a Persian manuscript (not another payal along with the lost one, for then she would have three of them, though the bed of jasmines is a lovely idea) . But he knows that Ruqaiya has, this time, offered a favourite haar of hers in genuine goodwill, so he takes it with an appropriate, diplomatic comment.

Why would Jodha put that haar away and not wear it, pray? Is she Shakuntala that she adorns herself only with flowers? If she despises aishwarya so much, why does she go about, at any time of the day or night, looking like a Christmas tree on December 25 eve? It does not lie in the mouth of such a gaudily bedecked woman to talk of Shehenshah ki soch seemith hai. But then she is fast becoming a typical Ekta heroine - preaching all the time without ever bothering to practice anything of what she preaches.

I am hoping he gives her her old paayal with the identical one, freshly minted from Shaahi-Khazaana! On a bed of jasmine flowers.'😳. I've a good feeling that those might just be Jodha's personal favourite.

The Tulaa-daan scene was fine. But what ruined it a bit for me was the strange, close faced expression that Jalal had on his face. It couldn't only have even because she doubted him.😕 She does that all the time!!

Or maybe, it being her birthday & the fact that he alerted his mother about it & Jodha was all upset about just that fact; something within Jalal snapped? But it still doesn't sit well with me..

The Krishna-Rukmini story is what leapt out at me when I was watching this scene!!

I seem to be in the minority, who loved the Jalal- Ruqaiyya scene! I loved his mollifying & pacifying of Ruqaiyya.

I do not for a minute, think that he was deliberately deceitful in his behaviour towards Ruqaiyya. Ruqaiyya has been his childhood friend, his Gatti since the time they were little children. They've shared enough trials , tribulations & adventures running across Rajasthaan saving their little lives, to make a lifetime!

For him to suddenly be cold or in-different such a childhood friend would be dis-tasteful & would lower my opinion of Jalal, that too for a woman who he has known & been obsessed with for a few short months! It isn't necessary that because he will have an Epic Romance with Jodha & form the bond of Soul-Mate with her: he needs to dis-associate with his Dearest Friend.

As for Jalal knowingly mis-leading Ruqaiyya- Jalal is un-sure as to what exactly is it that he feels for Jodha. He has begun to consciously acknowledge that he cares deeply about it, but the fact that he might just be in Love with her hasn't struck him as yet. What he has been sure of is exactly what he tells Ruqaiyya(and even Jodha, in her rooms when Ruqaiyya was no-where near) No-one can take away your position of being my Dearest Friend. No-one can come in between us. You are my Begum-E-Khaas & you always will be. He was sincere when he said that.

Where then, does the question or point of Jalal mis-leading or holding a makhmali rumaal against Ruqaiyya's eyes, come in?

And if he reiterated her Position by calling her Begum-E-Khaas, that is because he is only too aware how much she loves her Position! So he placated her , in alignment to her personality. And I see nothing wrong with it, whatsoever.

I admire Jalal for his treatment & till now, his separate yet equal treatment of these two very, very different women- Ruqaiyya, and, Jodha.

In time what Ruqaiyya will realise is this- Hamesha Haq jaata ne ke liye, Haq ko cheenana nahin padtaa. Kyunki woh Haq, naahin Aapka hain, aur naahin, Aapko diya gaya hain. 😳

Apart from the Tulaa-daan scene I loved the snatch of an expression on Jalal's face when he saw the shaahi-haar that Ruqaiyya intends on gifting Jodha from his, Jalal's side.

That expression was superbly done in its spontaneous dis-taste! Jalal seeing that must've instantly (and all too accurately) known that Jodha would've taken one look at this priceless necklace & would've gently set it aside. Months later, a baandi would be rubbing the dust off those precious stones. 😊

P. S. Which is why I hope he gifts her her old paayal. A memento from the past, personal & only between these two. Ruqaiyya would scoff at such a silly gift & why not.

The significance only Jodha will understand, and better, sweetly smile at. 😊

Your idea of a book in the Persian manuscript is very good too. Especially now that he knows how much she loves reading & gaining knowledge!

Or, how about an exquisite door-been for sukoon Chand ko niharnaa?
😳

P. P. S. Yes, this one time Ruqaiyya wasn't insulting a Begum esp one she feels is her Enemy No. 1 . She genuinely believed (not bothering to know anyone beyond herself & in smaller scale, Jalal) that Jodha would be delighted on receiving such a beautiful necklace by Jalal. And it was all due to Jalal's immense charm. 😊

True Aunty.
Hamida is under golden drugged effect of the Registaan Ki Gulaab. 😵

It was thoroughly in-appropriate & must've heavily chafed on all the other Begum's (it definitely did on Ruqaiyya) and I am wondering whether the real Mughal Sultanate's Mallika-E-Aazam would've been this oblivious to the political repercussions of her decisions!!

And, I've a feeling that Jalal is somewhere a little scared of his mother. Like a little boy. Even she rides on his head. Despite all his Badi-Ammi-ness , he can never refuse his biological mother, anything. 😆

I was horrified when she said last week or was it the week before that? That Jodha saved Jalal's life.

WHAT into 10.

I've a feeling am going to skip this fake pregnancy track.
