Yes, Man Singh and Akbar looked like two childhood buddies wispering to each other. Majority of Akbar's childhood friends like adham etc were selfish, but Man singh was not like that. It did not matter to him Akbar is an emperor, Akbar to him is just his friend. Indeed, it was said that in Akbar's court only Man Singh had braveness to oppose or say no to akbar among all ministers and nobels to anything he did not agree/like. That shows he does not care for Jalal's status as a emperor but only as a good friend. Although akbar used to call him farzand(son). Shows that all three spoke their mind and not busy trying to get in good books of Akbar.
