WARNING - look away if you're madly in love with Ja/Jo...
cos this is a LONG TEDIOUS RANT!😛
Sun29 has referred to you as Mandir ki ghanti, Mansi's wondering whether you can ever make an independent decision by yourself and Shyamala aunty has sought a new name for you - Poirot! Currently, I'm finding you a disturbing mix of all three...
Jalal you need to redeem yourself from constantly making rounds around the harem - seeking solace in the suffocating-false love of MA, seeking the company of a bitter power-hungry Ruqs or seeking an argument in the eternally hatred-spewing Jodha!
As we know; Akbar's was a large empire with a harem equally large to match - there would have been some form of political intrigue occurring every other month within his palace (maybe things even more sinister than this!) If this is how Jalal would have spent his personal time i.e. investigating all such mishaps, he'd have only been famously known as a Sherlock-not an Emperor! It'd make far more sense (after the initial shock!) if Jalal would have appointed two trusted spies to investigate the issues while he went about with his daily affairs! He could have demanded them to report to him on progress everyday (since its a matter personal to him), but it all looks too trivial now - the Emperor of the mighty Mughal Sultanat with thousands of affairs to tend to outside Agra making rounds of the harem - one Begum to next - carrying out physical and verbal interrogations with a darn dibbi in his hand!
Shyamala aunty raised a valid question - what else could the CVs have him do - seeing how their war shots are such an absolute failure...well, I came up with 10 different ideas that they could show Jalal doing. It will at least give us a welcome respite from Harem Harem Harem and show us the Jalal that we know of - an independent ruler who was an athletic, ambitious, intelligent, religious art-lover! Most importantly, it would make Jalal appear less of a sissy!
Now, kings did seek advice from their ministers and even their wives (and even I would love to watch him respect his fellow-men)...but its not like they did NOTHING unless guided by these people - then, why show him constantly dependant on someone else? The Jalal who started off was ruthless no doubt, but at least seemed to know what he was doing and why. This Jalal seems to ermmm...🤔 stand nowhere...
I am all for AKDHA and desperate to see a love story between the two...but I cannot find myself relating to a love story unless the protagonists are as strong as they're meant to be - there is just no passion in it.
Now, wouldn't a love story between a
strong & egoistic, but intelligent king AND a quick-tempered & self-respecting, but dignified queen
seem far more palatable than that of a love story between a
weak & troubled king AND his one-sided, ever-hateful queen!
Here are some of the ideas I came up with - would love to see Jalal involving himself in these things outside the few chambers he's been currently restricted to.
1)
GARDENS Akbar was known for his love of gardens and flowers - why can we not have a different setting where Jalal is shown taking walks in his well-tended gardens, inspecting his flowers by himself (I've read that he loved roses!) while discussing a few aam things with his courtier? Maybe even a chat with his maali (a gesture of kindness or a moment of wrath - anything can be depicted here!)😊
2) PRACTISE Why have they stopped showing him practice with the sword - we don't mind watching him carry out various forms of exercise at least once every week...sword/gun/wrestling/push-ups WHATEVER! The visuals will always be a treat
3) WHERE IS HIS ARMOURY Why haven't they ever shown him inspect weapons - there have been a few scenes on and off but never properly. Warring kings used to pride themselves on their artillery/armoury...again, a setting different from the harem😕
4) MORE HUNTING SCENES MAYBE? Akbar is known to have LOVED hunting and shot off every free moment he could get to hunt (especially in his youth)...they've only shown it once so far in the serial (with Ruqs) and possibly upcoming week with Jodha🤔
5) DEBATES & DISCUSSIONS WITH WISE MEN If they are so blatantly copying from the movie, why haven't they shown more scenes where Jalal praises/appreciates work of art? Be it poetry, paintings, religious discussions with various religious heads etc There were quite a few scenes where Hrithik does so in the movie. This was another of Jalal's interest! Why have they never shown him do the same with his courtiers? 😕
6) HAVING A RELAXED FEAST/ENTERTAINING CLOSE AIDES/FRIENDS Why haven't they shown him wine and dine with a close group of nobles/courtiers...I would love to watch a relaxed Jalal sitting at the head of the eating arrangement - dining in comfort, while his close aides are busy drinking and cracking jokes about everything under the sun - be it rival kings or beautiful women! You know the typical MAN stuff...and Jalal just silently sits back and enjoys all of it...seriously, Jalal needs some seriously sensible MALE company - get out of the harem dude!😛
7) CONSTRUCTION OF STRUCTURES Jalal authorized construction of many structures in and around Agra and everything did not happen only when he was grey haired...why can't they shoot some scenes in these monument-type settings showing Jalal supervising the construction😊
8) WAR If they don't have the resources to shoot war scenes - they can at least show him sitting back at his camp-tents at night discussing strategies with his commanders (NOT MINISTERS!)...looking over maps - something to indicate he was busy acquiring kingdoms too!
9) HIS DARBAR Also, we've only had two scenes of commoners/people coming to him with complaints/issues...I would have thought this would be a daily occurrence as long as he was in Agra! They don't need to show it everyday, but maybe once in a while?🤔
10) HIS DISGUISES Jalal is known to have loved disguising himself and taking tours around his capital like a commoner just to overhear what his people had to say about him...apart from a brief occurrence at Agra, we never saw him do the same again..😕. [Btw, it seems a bit OTT that he'd disguise himself like a Fakir to investigate this MC issue...]
We don't mind a slightly impulsive, slightly immatured Jalal (he still needs to grow I understand) - but the one being shown in the show now not is not just 'Slightly' immature! His process of becoming Akbar was not an overnight thing - there must have been inherent greatness in him that was honed as the days went by...so, please show us glimpses of that Great Jalal once in a while too
As for Jodha - I'll come back to you later, MADAM!
