I've been watching JA for a long time now, but haven't posted here before. In fact, I rarely come on IF. However, sometimes it happens. I watch the show primarily for Tokas' acting (and the beautiful Urdu and shudh Hindi renditions). Without a doubt, there could be no other Akbar. The man is top notch from demeanour, poise, voice, pronounciation, and of course, expression. By far, his best performance thus far.
Now, coming to the point. We have a "who is the culprit" guessing game on the cards. I am going to take it that we may be guessing until the end of the week as per ususal. There is a tendency for such tracks to elongate more than necessary.
Regardless, I think there are two apparent contenders for this brutal case - Adham Khan and Sharif-Uh- Dhin (sp?). I'm thinking more along the lines of Adham. I suspected him as soon as I found out this track was coming up. Both personalities have professed a desire to usurp the taqt, or throne of the Mughaliya-Sultanat. However, Adham Khan seems to care less of the world. That is a very generalized statement, so take is lightly. But, what I mean is, despite being drunk, he was a little bit in his senses and fully aware that he was crossing a forbidden line when he followed Moti into the harem. That was a very bold step. Furthermore, he has often displayed chaotic rage at being "stepped over" by "insults" by Jalal. Sharif-Uh-Dhin on the other hand, shows frustration, but he is quick to come to reason. In a way perhaps, he is more cautious. Recall that Adham also refused to come to the celebration in honour of the coming vaaris. He had to be in a way, cajoled by his dearest mother to entre the scene. And, Maham Anga is often seen checking the footprints of her son as she herself, does not trust his instincts and impulsivity. Thus, in this case, I feel Adham is in some ways perhaps more likely to be the cuplrit.
I don't think Maham Anga is the culprit. I agree that she is a cunning and selfish woman, but part of her selfishness stems from her genuine attachment to Jalal. And, she may have ambitions, but is a rational and cautious individual - an aged player,, if you will. She has stated herself that she is willing to step over others for her own morives, but she wouldn't jeopardize her khwaaishein so easily.
Who have I missed?
I love history, but unfortunately, have not done to much reading yet on this subject, so I cannot state clarity on the topic either. I'm going to have to hit the books!
Bottom line - whoever it is, deserves no reham. Their deed reeks of heartlessness and dead emotion.
Cheers,
