Akbar did marry several women after Jodha 😃

Among them, there were princess of Jaisalmer, Bikaner, and Dungarpur.

He married around 30-35 women in his lifetime. But yes, according to Islam, only 4 women are considered as legal wives and if a man wants to marry further, he has to divorce the former wives.

But in hinduism, there is no such compulsion for a man - he can marry as many times as he wishes. Most probably, that's why the Hindu Rajputs kings did not have any qualms about marrying off their daughters to Akbar.

The queens whom Akbar married after his 4th marriage, were known as secondary wives. But they were wives and not concubines.

It is said that Akbar asked the Ulema council to find a way so that all his wives get the same status and were known as his legal wives. But that probably did not materialize.
