mangling characters

I feel the CV's have to be true to the characters since the show is based on history or else the whole flavor of the show can be compromised. Just because CV's want to show the love story between Jodha and Jalal, there is no need to depict Ruqiyya as a Vamp. Portrayal of her in the manner the Cv's are currently doing puts Jalal's character also into question. Depiction of other wives of Jalal's as Bimbo's isn't helping either. Seems that Ekta is hell-bent on portraying Jalal's Muslim wives as useless, vindictive women who are liars to boot and a hindu begum as a paragon of virtues 😕.

I wholeheartedly agree with your comment on the fact that Ruqaiyya's portrayal has been dismal...especially since CVs started off showing that Ruqs was a good friend to Jalal. His other begums (bar Salima) are shown in quite a bad light too...Don't know why they've done that...

However, I cannot agree with the comment about the Muslim-Hindu equation...(i.e. showing muslims as bad and Hindus as epitome of virtue) - [Sorry don't mean to offend you only putting my views across here😳]
Hameeda Banu has been shown kind and beautiful while Mainawati has been shown as a weak person always ready to shed a bucketful of tears...

Maham Anga is (far more beautiful than Ila Arun in the movie) a very very intelligent lady in the serial. Sadly, she ended up using her intelligence for all the wrong reasons...

When MA was about to punish an old lady in the RasoiGhar, it was a couple of muslim ladies who came to her aid

Even though Jodha's sisters had more screen space, Jalal's sister is also shown as being a kind lady

Jalal himself is being portrayed as the most handsome (an exaggeration there) and powerful warrior of his era while the Rajputs' battle skills have been depicted as appalling...

I think its a good enough balance of good and bad on both sides...

However...since we have to put up with the harem scenes for long now, I honestly wish he had at least some sensible begums ...I wish Ruqs wises up...stops interfering in J and A and continues with her duties as J's best friend...

Can you please not bring Hindu-Muslim into this? Apart from that, I don't think you will find anyone in the forum who will disagree you when you talk about the butchering of Ruqaiyaa's character. None of us like the new Ruqaiyaa, at all. And the entire Rajput/Hindu household, except for Jodha, is shown to be perfectly ridiculous. None of them are paragons of virtue. They were ridiculous, weak people. On the other hand, it is the Mughal household where we see the interesting and stronger characters.

yes while carrying ruqu character... Ekta has to think once more... she was most adorable wife of akbar... evnen Jodhas son always appreciated ruqu in history

the way salimas character is building up

Ruqu character needs to handles with care

just to show Jodha is love of akbar its not right to show Ruqu in bad taste...

who knows whether jodha was just one among the wives of akbar or what...

Agree with you..

Bakshi Bano, Hamida and you forgot Salima! Salima seems kind too.

Jodha hasn't been very wise either, we all expect her to be that but she has her flaws as seen in some episodes where we have criticised her at length (burning the dress, not being considerate to Jalal, the reason why she kept shart before wedding).

I think Rukayya's character will improve later on.. it has too.. she cannot be a vamp forever. Jalal isn't the only one to 'grow up in love' , Jodha and Rukayya have some growing up to do as well.
