Chapter 1: Amer's Shield.
Jalal was pacing back and forth; his face twisted up in anger, only mere moments away from chopping the head of this insolent solider. How dare he return with the news of failure? How dare he return at all? The agreement was crystal clear for the Mughal soldiers; they either come back victorious or die trying, and the solider before him retelling the tale of his loss, had failed to do just that.
"Khamosh," Jalal bellowed, he had finally had enough. If his soldiers couldn't steal from a Hindu temple, how was he ever going to conquer the whole of Hindustan. Jalal glared at the said solider, "give me one good reason, to not cut of your head this instance," He said through gritted teeth.
The solider's eyes widened in horror, "bu-but you don't understand shenshahji," he stuttered out. "We were fully prepared, but we hadn't expected the soliders of Amer to be their with their maharani." His eyes, despite the circumstances, getting a dreamy look at the mention of Amer's queen. "Jodha bai," he finished softly.
Jalal glared at the soldier, "You said you were prepared," Jalal seethed. "What difference does having their Maharani there make?"Jalal questioned.
The soldier looked up breaking out of his daze, "She fought," He stated simply. "Better than the soliders, better than us. Infact, she could have killed me, but she wanted me to send you a message." The solider revealed.
Jalal raised his eyebrows in interest, and motioned the soldier to keep talking.
The soldier began shakily, "She asked me to tell--err inform you to keep your filthy eyes off Rajputana, because when the time comes not just her but the whole of Amer will be standing as a shield to protect their home."
Jodha smirked amused, "Brave words for just a King's wife. The Hindus don't teach their women to fight."
The soldier interrupted Jalal's words, "Sorry for interrupting shenshahji, but she isn't the Queen of Amer by marriage. She sits in the throne of Amer, the reigning queen of Amer: Jodhabai. They call her Rajasthan's Rose."
Jalal once again looked at the soldier with piqued interest, "and why exactly do they call her the rose of Rajasthan?"
"Her beauty and a caring nature to match," the soldier seemed to again go in dreamlike daze, remembering his meeting with the said queen. "The curves and crooks of her body, the flawless skin--it's enough to make a man go insane and I know for a fact, that the people of Amer would die before anything happened to their queen." The soldier finished.
Jalal looked at the soldier curiously, "You are dismissed." He said.
The said soldier happily exited Jalal's presence, His life was safe for now.
Jalal on the other hand smirked and murmured, "Jodhabai," he looked around. the smirk never leaving his face. "Now that's someone I'd like to meet and see."
