No, Ameilia dear, you have got it all wrong, though I do love the cheeky little girl you have pasted here! You are not taking all the circumstances into consideration, unless of course you mean all this to be taken with tongue completely in cheek,😉 which seems more than likely judging from the number of emoticons peppering your post!

But even if that is what it is, an analysis of why Jalal produces all those reasons might be of interest to some of you.

Jalal is a ruler, first and foremost, and even more important, he is a fledgling Shahenshah, just emerging from the overpowering shadow of his lifelong mentor, Bairam Khan. He has yet to make a name and gain a reputation of his own, a reputation for wise leadership that keeps the interests of the Mughal Sultanate first and foremost. If he is unable to do this, he will soon progressively lose their unquestioning backing. That will then lead to plots against him by those spreading rumours that he is a weak, wayward ruler, easily swayed by sudden obsessions, and thus not worthy to head a mighty empire.

So there is NO way he can justify his pathbreaking, indeed shocking decision to marry a kafir (infidel), thus giving her the status of his empress, and not just add her to his harem. by telling his advisers that he is obsessed with her. The latter option would have been perfectly acceptable to his advisers, the former is, to begin with, an absolute no no.

He thus has to dress the decision up in reasons that would go down perfectly with the council of Ministers, and enhance their admiration for his sagacity, his ability to strategise for the long term, and thus for his abilities as a wise ruler of the Mughal empire.

The other thing is that every reason he lists out is absolutely correct, and totally relevant. These are the beginnings of the Akbar who prized inclusiveness and shared progress over mindless visceral animosities and the frittering away of men and resources in endless wars. If you think of what happened in Akbar's empire on each of the 3 points Jalal makes yesterday, you will see that each of them came true. By dampening the hostility between the two races, and harnessing their joint energies for the greater glory of the Mughal Raj that benefited them both, Akbar proved Jalal right all the way.

None of this is to deny that Jalal wants Jodha above all for reasons of the heart, but he himself does not understand it at this point. It is the same with the payal, as you would remember from my take on it in my very first post in this forum a month back. I had them written:

"The slow walk to pick up Jodha's payal, the way he picks it up, with a slight hesitation before he does so, it is all part of the consciousness of being a Mughal ruler.

Jalal is not used to bending at all, for anything or anyone. It would normally never occur to him to stoop and pick up a girl's payal as a token. Women have always been his to take as he chose, he would never dream of chasing any of them. Still he picks it up, which means a lot more than with an ordinary man.

He does not kiss the payal as any ordinary lover would. It would be not be like the Shahenshah at all. He tosses it up in the air, but he always catches it, and when it falls into the fire, he burns his hand to retrieve it. This is not so much, as some have thought, a sign of passion for Jodha. He is not yet aware that he is falling in love with her, he does not know what love means. It is rather the possessiveness towards her that, as the line has it, uske parvaan chad gaya tha. For him, the payal symbolizes Jodha, and he will not let go of it or her, even if he has to burn his fingers to secure it".

So, one should not take Jalal for a garden variety of Majnu, sighing verses to his beloved's eyes. He is nothing like that, and he has no idea of where he is headed. Right now, what he feels for Jodha is possessiveness, which I had mentioned there, with a thick overlay of resentment because of the jail incident. To love each other is in their stars, but that is yet to come. Possess your soul in patience, my dear, and do not call Jalal a liar. He never took an oath in the witness stand to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, did he?

Liar liar pants on fire
We all know that is not the only reason Jalal😉.
Why do u still have her payals??
Why at the mention of Amer why do u daydream about her??
Why did u tell MA u want something from Amer that the whole Hindustan doest have that u want for yourself??
Why did u get her portrait made and then destroyed it??We all know u want to look at her not her picture.
And why dnt u tell everyone u sly emperor of your so called fascination and that u already met your future wife and she gave u something no one else did?😆
Jodha doesnt want ur wealth she just wants your head😆 🤣.
Why dnt u tell everyone what Jodha a Rajput Princess did to u at your first encounter??
Imagine what she will do in the future😉.
And if your intention is so pure and true then why send her a 'You're are mine, every part of you body is mine letter?'
Go tell your advisers all of that would you😆 😆

I thought so, my dear, as I had noted in my first para, but still I felt my post might be if some interest.

It is neat, the way in which they have shown Jalal here, expounding all the main ideas that led to Akbar's inclusive empire.
