@Disha & Amor,
I am almost 100% positive that Akbar's Rajput wife must have been Hira Bai, because although the Jodha Mahal does exist, historical evidence shows us that the name Jodha came up in the 19th century, so it's possible that "Jodha's" name was originally Hira Bai but for some reason, it got changed to Jodha much later on.
Maybe Jodha Mahal was originally HIra Mahal...if there is at least one historical source that shows us that Jodha was called Jodha in the Mughal Era, I would believe it, but I've only heard of Hira Bai being Akbar's Rajput wife.
Anyway, like you guys said, most people are here for Rajat only so it's better not to discuss history. 😆

Akbar didn't had mentioned the name of Jodha in important books beacuase of the orthodox Mughals who would be you know...have a problem on a Rajputani deleivering her Child.
Maybe that's the reason of no mention of Jodha Bai in records

Well the real truth will always be a mystery quite frankly! No historians have to date agreed with the folk tale of this emperor and his love! Which means, directors of movies or serials have a lot to play with! But its annoying that Akbar's son despite writing a biography forgets to mention the name of his mother! anyways, with the obscurity in the history tale itself, there can no be right or wrong perception of the events,as it would evidently be each to their own kinda thing!

ps! thanks for sharing, although, next time try not using wikipedia as a reliable source since am sure you are aware, that site is edited by people who hardly knows what they are talking about. Thanks though!

Yes, that makes sense!

But one would think that, since Akbar was supposedly in love with his Rajput wife (she was supposed to be his favorite!), he'd give her a special place in his autobiography. 🤔

That is true...even historians have not all discovered the same thing. One thing that is common between everyone is that Akbar had a Rajput wife by the name of Hira Bai. She was his 3rd wife and believed to be the mother of Jahangir. Whether he had another Rajput wife by the name of Jodha, or if Jodha was simply another name of Hira, or even if Jodha never existed...none of it is very clear!

Yes, I also find it difficult to understand why Jahangir made no mention of his mother's name in his autobiography. 😕 It is possible that he may have been ashamed of her origins...which could mean that his mother was either low class, a concubine of the King and not his wife, or the fact that she was a Hindu princess. If his mother was in fact Hira Bai/Jodha Bai, there is nothing for him to feel ashamed of except that she was Hindu and the Mughals were all Muslim.
