"Mandira Bedi is my fantasy", says Rahul Vaidya
It's all about love on the sets of Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar. And our love lorn singers are dedicating their songs, not to their girlfriends, but to the very sensual Mandira Bedi. No second guesses on who our love lorn singers are – Vineet Singh and Rahul Vaidya. We caught up with Rahul Vaidya and before we could get into the interview mode, there was no stopping the good-looking singer when it came to talking about sensual Mandira Bedi.
"There couldn't have been a better host! She's the anchor of the show. She's responsible for holding the show together…"
And the adjectives for Mandira went on and on before we decided to rein the singer in and ask him about the inception. Nostalgically, he reveals, the summer when the cricket fever was on and he was in his tenth grade and he would rush from school to catch Mandira Bedi on screen hosting Extra Innings. "Cricket was an excuse to watch Mandira Bedi. She is the true definition of adolescence crush. I would dream of wooing her with my songs. And today, on Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar, I'm living my adolescent dreams." And probing him on his competition, Vineet who professes the same crush for Mandira, he laughs off Vineet as competition.
"Vineet is like my brother. Give him any woman and he's going to vie for attention. I love him and he's not competition for me." Rahul does add, "But there's really no point in having a crush for a married woman. I know for Mandira, I'm just another one on the set that she bestows her warmth on. She's happily married to Raj Kaushal and there's no place in her life for the likes of me. But you can't blame a man for trying."
And coming to best part of the conversation, he says, "I'm happy to be still walking around and not beaten into pulp. Raj Kaushal, Mandira's husband is not jealous of me. Infact, he supports me in the show and actually votes for me in spite of the fact of the crush that I carry for his wife."
Sharing a podium with Mandira Bedi is a dream come true for Rahul. From the summer where he wove fantasies over the sensual lass who would sizzle the small screen with her noodle strap blouses to sharing the same platform, he says, "I enjoy every minute of being with MandiraShe is such a warm person And the warmth in her is genuine.
She's a star, she can throw tantrums and get away with it, but on the sets, she's like sunshine!" And the adjectives keep flowing.
When we caught up with Mandira, the fantasy of our lad's dreams, she said, "I feel awkward about all this attention. Yes, I've been in the limelight and I do know all about crushes. But, being blatant about it leaves me in a tight spot. It's very sweet, but very embarrassing. Infact, I still remember an incident for the monsoon special that's going on air today. I was asking the contestants about long drives and the song that they would sing and Rahul stopped at just saying that he would like to take me for a long drive. And Vineet, supporting him turned around and asked me if I would come along with him for a cup of coffee!"
"I really don't know how to deal with this attention. I'm a very confident woman, but when the attention is brought up on a platform, I'm a little embarrassed because these are such sweet boys! I refrain from calling them men!"
We couldn't resist asking the lovely lady if her jealous husband was hatching a plan to do away with the competition. She laughs it off by saying, "Raj isn't threatened. And neither is he jealous. He knows all about puppy love!"
