Farah Khan's complaint resulted in Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar's elimination process being completely changed yesterday

Choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan, whose blockbuster Om Shanti Om released last year, has taken to her recent role of a judge on Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar rather seriously. Farah, who has been upset with the format of the show, voiced her displeasure in no uncertain terms, yesterday. Result? The entire format of the show was changed.

The show's format has two sections- Challengers League and Champions League. Earlier, the eliminations only happened for those who belonged to the Champions League while those from the Challengers League stayed on, irrespective of their performance.

Farah was miffed as she couldn't understand why eliminations only happened in one of the sections and not both.

Says an eyewitness, " Farah was quite miffed ever since Aishwarya Nigam, who had reached the Champions League, was eliminated from the show,. Aishwarya is a fantastic singer and Farah, who is a very fair judge didn't approve of Aishwarya's ouster. Yesterday, Farah said that why should she give more marks to Himani Kapoor (who was in the Challengers League) if she would anyway be ousted from the Champions League despite being a good singer? Farah was very angry and refused to cool down."

"The producers and Star Plus understood that Farah's complaint was valid. They took a call and decided that one singer will be eliminated every week from the weaker league (Champions) as well," our source adds.

Anupma Mandloi, Star India's Creative Director, confirms that the format of the show has undergone a change. She says, "Now, one singer from the weaker lot will be eliminated. The new format works to the show's advantage."

Farah Khan says, "I think it is extremely necessary that the weaker singers are kept on their toes, otherwise, they just remain on the show as they fear no risk of elimination."

The star contestants of Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar, which is hosted by Mandira Bedi, are Priyani, Harshit, Ishmeet, Vineet, Neha Kakkar, Abhijeet Sawant, Amit Sana, Roop Rekha, Himani, Rahul Vaidya and Sumitra Iyer. Music composer duo Vishal and Shekhar, who earlier judged the talent show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa on Zee TV, are two other judges on the show. As for Farah's previous experience in judging reality shows is concerned, sometime agok, she was a judge on Sony TV's Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.

SO now on each wk one from both champion and challenger side would be eliminated.

Bottomline was she able to do anything for Aishwarya so he can stay? I would be upset to see challengers like Ravinder Ravi, Amit Tandon or Sumitra around while a good singers on champion side be eliminated 😳

Well, I hope the less talented challengers go before the more talented ones-- in the reality show world, everything can be quite unpleasantly shocking 😕

i wasnt shocked aishwarya compared to other singers was weak but the change of the format is really gud coz the other remaining champions r better singers

I know DB jaan. I was thinking on the same lines. Who wants to see good singers like Aishwarya Nigam leaving and the likes of Amit Tandon, Ravindar Ravi and Sumitra Iyer torturing us week after week. I think they are secretly happy that they don't qualify to go to Winner's side for fear of elimination.

My proposed format: Keep both challengers and winners side on the edge by introducing 'Safety vote'. That is the one who is the best according to judges in both winners and challengers side gets to be safe for next time and can't be voted out. Rest everyone must go through public voting.

Why they have to go with that kind of crappy format. Why dont they go with conventional format of elliminating weakest contestant. The challenger and champion grouping doesnt make any sense either.

well take bottom 3 scores from both challengers-champions n then voting shud b done 4 them. not for gr8 singers!! it's quite unfair 2 c gud singers leaving... agar aisa hi hua to sirf bad singer he reh jayega end main. the comp will b easy even 4 a champ!

Please tell me Aishwariya stayed. I had just started to get to know this amazingly wonderful singer thanks to this show and now he has been eliminated. Get him back someone! This is gross! Simply gross!😭

Glad to know about the format change though. But it's a lot less good when someone as awesome as Aishwariya has already been eliminated.

I know...What a painful experience it would be to sit through such atrocious performances after losing such a performer!

That would've been much better than this current disaster of a format..I'm still in shock..
