same reason why the lowest scorer from the champions side gets an exemption in the same week. Because he/she only have one day to prepare.

You may be right! I was just speculating since Aneek's song was very tough and needed a lot of preparation. Or maybe, they plan out their themes a few weeks in advance and contestants are asked to prepare for them a couple of weeks ahead of time.

I disagreed with his judgement a couple of times in the beginning but gradually I agree with him more and more. He's very precise and focused on technicalities and that is the sort of criticism that all aspiring singers need.

Sorry, I don't understand your comments. His scores do seem off to me sometimes. But they seem off for anyone in random. I haven't really felt him being biased towards anyone. Can you give some examples?

I will give you a concrete example..when Vaishali sang beautifully an Indian western song..he could found no mistake her singing, he came up with it was not western enough..and I completely disagree with him..

He has been very biased towards Vaishali..

If he thought he can make it better, he should have sang a line so that we can see the difference..very mediocre judging

I also did not understand why Shantanu gave Irfan an 8. I thought he deserved a 9, but then again, I can never understand why the judges gave the scores they gave. So many times Swanand has given a contestant an 8, and I would be like, 😕 Same with Shaan, but the problem with Shaan is that he will give sweet comments and show a 7. That makes me go, "What the fish, man?!" 😆 I love Shaan as a singer and person, but as a judge, he needs to be able to give constructive criticism to the contestants. Both Swanand and Shantanu do give it at times. Shantanu gives it more than Swanand in my opinion. Swanand sometimes just goes with how he feels about a performance rather than how it actually sounded.

April, being biased towards someone means to show favoritism towards someone. It does not mean criticizing someone. I don't feel his favoritism towards any particular contestant. He randomly criticizes all contestants.

I think April meant Shantanu is biased against Vaishali and not for (towards)...I guess April will clarify what she meant but this is what I got from her post.
Obviously SM has his favorite or being biased towards some.. "Irfan" being one..Not that Irfan is not good...He is one of my fav too...This does not mean he doesn't give criticism to all but he has his favs and same for Shan..One can see it very clearly.
I just dont want to name names of contestants...
May be some can see it and some cant.
SK might give comments on feelings etc but atleast he does not have favs nor shows biased behavior..Yes SK's comments and #s at times does not make sense at all..
in short all 3 judges are off but SM and SHaan are more off than SK.

Thanks Varsha for clarifying my intent..

I agree with your comments regarding three judges..all three of them and they have the power to decide the fate of the contestants.

I find the theme of the show many times not very good...the remix one was horrible..

I find SM's comments are very helpful for the singers as he mention the technicalities that can only improve a singer. Whats the big deal about scores. Even i found that to be fair in most cases.

About Vaishali's performance, SM was absolutely spot on on the western feel of the song. A song has a soul and a feel and those things are different from sur and taal. Vaishali might have sung in sur and taal her throw needs to be like a western style in the song. That was exactly SM mentioned. Nothing Biased as He also gave Vaishali 10 couple of weeks ago.

I find SK's comments rather useless as he does not tell how to improve but points out only feel. Feel in a song largely based on modulation or Pitch. being also a singer he can show the singer how it is done then it will be immense helpful for the singers.

I live in the west and have lived for many many years and I am a fan of western music, I listen to western music more than Indian music. I didn't find Vaishali's song lacking western feel or style whatever SM was referring to...maybe Indians in India have diff feel for western singing..

In my opinion Vaishali and Nihira are better singer than many in champion side..I find judgement very flawed. Somehow male vocales are being more appreciated than female voices. Nobody can convince that men are singing better than all the women on the show..we know that the greatest singer in India is a woman...that the reason I mentioned that there should have been a female judge to balance the judging team.
