Ani by his character does not hold Strong morality. Unless it’s not jhanak he is used to make lies to escape the unnecessary drama. There is only one instance where he said truth about date night bcoz it was for jhanak. Now jhanak is not in the picture so I think he accepted the fact that he has to marry Arshi. Totally agree with you he lacks morality and always need something to push him to take bold decisions unless that he won't do much just accept whatever life is serving him. This kind of nature is pretty dangerous he doesn't have guts to say the truth and accept his heart. Since the start he kept lying not even once he told truth. Now also he needs jhanak's kidnap scenario to go to Srinagar.
