Finally found sometime to pen down my thoughts on the episode. Sorry for the delay.
Okay. Not many thoughts about the episode except for some major things...
I have told this before and I am telling you today too. While I understand from the maker's perspective that extending the last scene of the previous episode makes sense, as a viewer it sucks because like today it diluted/ changed the tone of the entire scene.
The episode starts with Shubho lying through his teeth about what he said about Appu to Bodomaa. The way Bodomaa said Ani yahan hai, isliye app isse mazak ke tharah se keh rahe hai... makes me feel like this is probably not the first time Shubho hid things from him, probably in a stance to show himself as a benevolent father who had misgivings about his relationship. A little bit of the dynamics between father and son is revealed here. I think both Tanuja and Shubho depend on Ani for a lot of things and he is the golden child between the 3. So, strategically they are trying to make sure they are indispensable in his life considering how he is more like Jethu and Bodomaa unlike themselves.
This is also in line with how Ani is probably not aware of the extent to which Jhanak is humilated and insulted in the house. I don't think Bodomaa, Jethu and Chotton are the type of people to relay each and everything because they know Ani only holds some power and don't want him to become an enemy in place of supporting them.
Another thing I would like to put here. I did not like Appu di's actions today. Could not sympathize with her and made me feel less compassionate about her. Something about her came as distasteful today. Just strictly my opinion. She looked more like a petulant and stubborn, pampered child rather than someone who is mentally not well developed.
All her shenanigans in revealing the truth only served to raise the ire out of other Basus and JK. The way Tanuja, TMW and JK pounced on Jhanak is disgusting.
JK will be a shakki biwi and the way she questioned Ani was in poor taste. However, I think both are correct from their POVs.
Ani is right in shutting JK out on her vile questions, but he is also partially responsible for her becoming this way. She was not always like this at the start.
JK on the other hand was right in asking those questions since Ani's actions and words are in a total disconnect, and she is also under the influence of her mother.
But all of this only serves to show that at this point, with their traits in plain view... they are not a good fit for each other. They should just stay far away from each other and cancel the marriage.
One thing, Basus at this point is pretending to be ignorant of Ani's actions and are targeting Jhanak and demeaning her because she is the soft target. Insinuating she might have called him since no one was at home and asking her why she ate when Ani fed her instead of questioning Ani directly as JK did. Something is wrong with these Bozos man...
Now Ani's lies are becoming hard to digest.... he lies so easily. Also, the fact that Appu only listens to Ani inherently doesn't sit well with me. Again, a contrived plot convenience.
All of these incidents lead to Jhanak being right in her stance, as Shubho berates her on how many Favors he is doing for her... I can only see Shubho turning positive because it is beneficial for him. Not that he cares about his son.
"Mujhe bhi iss jaga se koi farakh nahi padta, aur iss jagah se ek bhar bahaar chali gayi na mein phiche mudkar dekhne to door, sochungi nahi inke baare mein..."
"Mein to kush hoon ki mere jald se jald shaadi ho rahi hai, kam se kam iss ghar mein zilaat taane beizzati to nahi sehni padegi kyuni TAKGAYI HOON MEIN. TAAK GAYI HOON"
Jhanak's reply is not only to Shubho but to his son too... who kept pestering her as to why she took this decision. His returning silence was resounding enough to know her decision albeit self-destructive was right in that instance. She is truly well and tired of this place, no matter how good some people may be. All it takes is one drop of salt to degrade milk, just like how some negativity can easily overpower most positivity for people. It's human nature plain and simple.
After all this toxicity, we get some cute bonding scenes between Chotton, Ani, and Appu who is stealing ice cream like a kid.
For a minute I got whiplash whether this was Jhanak or not. Man, makers really put us through a blender of toxicity that even small scenes like these don't seem enjoyable anymore. I don't know if this was a damage control scene for App di, but it did not make me sympathize anymore for her after the Kaand today. At least it was nice seeing some positive bonding. Thank the lord for small mercies!
Chotton gets to know about Jhanak's marriage being finalized and he looks at Ani asking if he ever tried to stop Jhanak.
"Roka nahi? Kaise Roku... Kis haq se rokun? Wo kud yahan se Jaan chahti hai, mein koun hoti hun usse roknewala? "
I see. Haq ka booth ab Ani ke sar par savaar hai...
"Mein kya karun? Apko kya lagtha hai? Agar meri Haath mein hoti mein iss had tak aane deta?? Log pyaar, zimmedari aur Haq mein farakh nahi karte, aur mein usse sikha bhi nahi saktha..."
Look who's talking. WTF bro? You want her to confess but you won't take the first step. I can see the frustration evident on your face. It doesn't matter whether she loves you, the fact is you love her regardless.
I get that people might think he wants her to fight for himself, but seriously anyone in her position will find it hard to fight, and considering Jhanak's nature I don't find it odd for her to throw herself into marriage to get out of the way.
Then they are stupid enough to talk in front of Appu di about possibly kidnapping. Did they not learn their lesson before? Or is Ani so confident of Appu di listening to him??
The way Chotton comforted him felt more like Tum kuch mat karna... kuch na kuch hal nikhal lenge, kidnapping karne ki kya zaroorat hai?. Ani looked super serious and willing to become a criminal and kidnap Jhanak if it meant stopping the marriage... The way his eyes reddened in tears... Ani Baba is in a fix and not able to think things through.
Then we have the eye candy scene... first of all. Daang ka music dedo yaar Makers... what comedy music you are using??
Krushal looked hot lifting weights lol
Anyways, Seeing Jhanak bring the bags Ani immediately starts the taunting session as a way to vent out on her.
" Oh Haan! Aaj tumhari Ashirward ki rasam hain na? Neend nahi aayi hogi... bohot excited hogi na??Kal tho shaadi bhi hai"
"Ji, Excited hone ki baath hi hai..."
Jhanak then proceeds to tell him that she is here to return his things. Ani's anger man... the way his face distorted on hearing how she doesn't even wanna keep his gifts...
"Phen dho.!! Ek kaam karo, yahan rakho... mein hi dust bin mein phenk doongi"
Hehehehe...
Well, at least he is patient enough to listen to her when he asks... though the sarcasm is through the roof now.
"Bholo kya bholna hai, kuch meaningful tho bhologi nahi..."
Yeah, I bet. Anything besides her saying she doesn't want to marry will be meaningless only to you
Jhanak explains how she will wear the clothes he got for her if he wants, only after his family's acknowledgment. She iterates that it wouldn't look good if she wore what got for him and it would create family issues and considers his gift as his blessings. Ani boi is just getting irritated the more Jhanak babbles...
"Seedhe point pe aao"
Ani is in this sticky situation where he wants to taunt her with marriage but doesn't like doing it. So childish
There was pain evident in Jhanak's voice when she said she doesn't want to wear his stuff. But Ani wants to hear what he wants to hear...
"Mere diye hue gehne?? Itna sochti ho mere barein mein?"
If you know, why the eff are you asking??
"Agar tum isse pehnna chahti ho na, isse saath le jao apne blessings ki tarah aur humesha rakho apne paas"
Who wanna bet he is not talking about the clothes??
Then they fall into a comfortable silence, broken by Jhanak's uncomfortable truth that no matter how angry she gets, she will always be grateful for his help. She thanks him for all his help and his good heart, and she doesn't want to hurt him by returning everything. She wants to keep some for his sake and give the rest to Appu.
Ani comes straight to point totally confused.
"Jhanak mein ye sab aapu di ke iye nahi laya hoon..."
I think he will take even less than 5 mins for Appu di lol. Jhanak hai isliye he took 10-15 mins...
Jhanak says that she knows but insists that he has spent too much, and she'd be only able to give this to Appu di and no one else of her own volition as she likes them.
"Aapka dil bahot bada hai, aur karcha karne se pehle sochte tak nahi, Bhagwan ne apko ache dil diye, ache insaan banaya, aur paisa bhi diya hai... Aap isse galat insaan pe invest maat kijiye"
A very honest and self-depreciating Jhanak. I can how this makes her feel suffocated.
However, Ani doesn't believe her and only mocks her.
"Hogaya Tumahara?"
Jhanak's honest plea just silences Ani instead.
"Mein iss ghar ko chodke parson chali jaungi Sir ji.... phir bhi aap mujhse aise kyun baat kar rahi hai?"
The yearning Jhanak has for Ani to talk patiently... realizing she may not get to see him anymore...
"Mein make sure karoongi ki tum ye inhe zindagi par pehen sakoon...."
Ani boi wants to make sure he always stays in her mind...
When Jhanak insists her parents have given enough, Ani only says they are not as good... which prompts Jhanak to question him...
"Itna sochte hain aap mere liye?"
Jhanak throws back his words at him, surprised by his concern for her though he has been only taunting her till now.
Ani only averts his eyes as he has no answer for why he has so much concern for Jhanak and questions her back...
"Matlab, mein do din mein yahan se chali jaungi, phir itni fikr kyun hai??"
I really have no words to say actually.
Both are fools in love and are dancing around the issue in such a messy way.
At the end of this scene, the only observation I could make is. Ani is affected by her departure, openly lashing out and taunting her because it's her choice and that choice is not him. Despite all the frustration and anger filling his heart and mind, his concern for her always stays first priority whether it be her education or just shopping for good stuff for the marriage. He always wants the best for her. And he is probably also confused by her softer attitude compared to her stone face and rudeness before. He can sense the defeat in her and it's hurting him too. While a part of him wants Jhanak to stop the marriage, a part of him also knows Jhanak won't have a good life here. Mix this in with his helplessness and restlessness. Viola! we see his inner turmoil and a confusing set of actions.
As for Jhanak, she just wants to be free and wants to savor whatever time is left with the good people from the Basu family. And also, Ani. Because she knows he won't love her the way she loves him. Not that he has given a signal good enough for her to understand. Also, the Mahan FL syndrome is kicking in, so she surely wants to leave the place to make way for her sister's life. Whether planned by others or self-planned, there is no doubt her life will be in danger, and she doesn't know if she will be lucky the next time. Her decision may be self-destructive in the long term, but is she really in any position to think if her decisions are good or bad? I don't know man...
Today even if the point of their conversation was to open up and be civil instead of fighting as usual, as a viewer it only made me feel frustrated instead as there was no progress.
