Hi

I am not a great follower of JDJ this season but its my opinion that dance shows these days concentrate mostly on western forms and that too not in its pure form except for the pros. They say its contemporary and free-style, mix-n-match of desi and western dance and all we get is some lifts, aerial act and something in the name of sensuality.(i'm not pin-pointing anyone. I haven't even watched any of those controversial performance). What my point is our country is blessed with so many pure dance forms that you will need many decades to xplore them all. Then why leave them all and go after these. I like western dance forms but dance is just not lifting and going junglee. Remember once we had a show named "Boogie Woogie" which included all kind of dance forms.

I am a Keralite. If I name a few dance forms in my state, "Kathakali, Ottan Thullal, Mohiniyattam, Oppana, Daffumuttu, Kolkali, Theyyam, Thiruvathirakali, keralanadanam, kummikali, kudiyattam and so on...

If a single state has so many form of dance, imagine what the entire country would have? I'm not saying that they should go all classical. But many of these can be incorporated with modern film songs or famous musical scores to gain TRPs. It will take our young choreographers to an entire new level . The Prabhu Deva whom we all praise is a trained bharathanatyam dancer.

In the case of JDJ, you can say that its difficullt for non-dancers. Trust me, if they can do those life-threatening lifts and aerial acts can't they atleast give these a try.

If you agree with me please post the dance forms that belong to your state. It will be informative as well. 😊

I totally agree with u 😊..I think since the judges are giving them themes..why don't they give a folk dance theme (purely), it should be great fun to watch.
