Dance Style 'Garba' Portrayed Poorly

Okay so I know that they are kids, but their choreographers should know better. I'm actually very technical when it comes to classical dance forms and garba/dandiya/raas. Being a Gujarati I've been around enough garba/dandiya/raas to know what is proper and what is not. I know that these kids are yet very young to understand the technicality of the dance forms, so I'm not blaming them. But don't the choreos know better? The performance had a very poor representation of garba. They might as well have left out the 'garba' part from the dance style description. It was hardly a 20 second element. I don't mean to be harsh or whatever, but I was rather disappointed.

I do wish to see a full fledged garba/dandiya/raas act from one of the contestants (someone not Gujarati).

I see where you're coming from, but honestly, everything is a diluted version of the actual dance. Like salsa moves in a flamenco, free style in contemporary, lack of the basic count in a chachacha, etc. I haven't seen a dance in it's truest form on this "dance" show. Man, DID is so much better when it comes to presenting unadulerated dance forms.

But I guess we can keep hoping.

^ Seriously gotta agree with you. I remember when Jai & Mayu did a full on garba/dandiya/raas act almost to perfection. Haven't seen any dance form done to perfection of JDJ yet.

I think they did rather well for being non Gujjus (well at least Mayu is non Gujju). Just look at that energy, which is so needed for garba/dandiya.

Can't find Jai's right now. But I'm not trying to compare them or anything, but I was really disappointed in the way it was incorporated into the kids dance. It just didn't go. :/

yeah...the kids choreo need to work on the choreography of a particular danceform.its nt healthy to mix salsa wid every other dance form..i mean comm on kids r cute but dance form shud be justified...their act luk messy to me
