Mischievous, bindaas and full of attitude, Mika has been quite a terror on the show. He would do his own steps and make the judges frown with his statements. But there is another side to him. This big-hearted Punjabi munda distributed Diwali gifts to all the people on the sets and made sure everybody around him had a good time on the show. He shocked everybody when he requested his fans not to vote for him last week. He claimed he wanted to give others a chance. We spoke to him on the sets, right after his elimination.
Why did you ask the audience not to vote for you?
That's because Ronit is my only competition. There is Jay, Sandhya and Negi, but they are all newcomers. I am not excited to compete with newcomers. I'd rather compete with a dancer who is better than me. Anyway, I joined the show to enjoy myself. I wanted the show to become big and now it is a hit. It has received no. 1 TRP ratings. In those terms, I have been successful in my endeavour.
How do you rate yourself as a dancer?
I have been singing and dancing for the last 10 years. And during all those years, people have rated me as a good dancer. I have danced well in all my videos. I don't think I needed to prove myself in anyway in this competition that I had not proven earlier.
Did you have a crush on Urmila? You said 'I love you'.
She has crush on me. [Laughs] No, I have always said that I am her fan. Wherever I go, my fans scream 'Mika, we love you.' So even I tell them 'I love you too.' So a fan has the right to say 'I love you'. So I said that to her as a fan. If I had gone to her as Mika, I would have pataoed her long back. Main maar kaha pe kha raha tha ke main fan tha.
On the sets you sang romantic songs. Was it for Urmila?
Whatever I sang on the sets was straight from the heart. It depended on my mood. I have never sung these kinds of songs on stage. I usually sing peppy songs. About Urmila, as I said, I am a fan. I liked her Chamma chamma number and Rangeela dance… that's it.
What do you think about the judges?
Right from the beginning, I told the channel that I want judges whom I would listen to. I don't want judges who are not worth it. Jeetenderji is a legend. Whatever he said I liked. Urmila is the Rangeela star and her popular dances still enthral me. Shiamak is very sweet. I like whatever comments he gives. The only problem was that whatever they said I took it as a joke. [Laughs]. Because I enjoyed the show… it's my duty to make people enjoy it, too.
Tell us about your experience in Jhalak.
I am taking back a lot of memories from the show. I enjoyed a lot. Actually, I am the most unruly kid in my family. I've never ever listened to anyone. I have six brothers and all of them are scared of me. But Jhalak is the first place where I had to stand in line with others. I never bothered about the three judges. My attitude was like 'why am I standing before these people'? But after the third show… I understood that this is the way the show goes.
I usually sleep at 4 p.m. at night. But for practice, I had to go for rehearsals at 5 a.m. I'll remember all this when I leave. Sometimes, Tanushree would keep asking me to do a step. I made sure that she changed that step for my convenience… I told her that was not what I wanted to do. [Laughs].
It seems you gave Tanushree a tough time.
I didn't trouble her. It was just fun. It was a good experience in life. We enjoyed a lot and got out of the show enjoying it.
Any message for the janta?
I want to tell my fans that I know you love me a lot. Please love me like this always. I believe I've already won the show because of you people. I don't need to win the competition.
