AGONDA, OCT 28 - Goans glued to the idiot box on Friday night may have watched the pair of Toby Fernandes and Mona Singh running away with top honours at the popular show on Sony TV.

But few will know that Toby Fernandes a blue-bloodied Goan has made it big as choreographer in Bollywood.
Toby, coming from a remote village of Polem in Loliem Panchayat area became India's top most choreographer for making a non-dancing celebrity like Mona Singh who learnt to move her hips to the dancing tunes in garnering more votes from Indian audience.
The pair of Toby Fernandes and Mona Singh of 'Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahim' fame walked off with top honors on Sony TV's Jhalak Dikhla Jha on Friday night.
The pair of Mona-Toby garnered more votes than the other finalist pair of Shweta Salve- Longi. Shweta-Loni pair had topped with judges point. The winners were however, judged by tele-voting over a seven days period after a best of three final performances by both these pairs.
Toby's father Mathew who was held up at his Goa's residence due to pre-occupied work, had to watch the live telecast of Jhalak Dikhla Jha show on Sony TV on Friday night alongwith his friends and relatives, was very thankful to Indian public especially Goa's audience who had voted for Mona-Toby pair. This he said was inspite of on TV negative comments attributed to pair of Mona-Toby especially during the last two rounds. His son had brought name and fame to the people of Goa especially Canconites and proved that Goan's too can rule the Bollywood choreography, says the proud father.
However, mother Philomena is in Mumbai and had gone ecstatic after seeing her son crowned alongwith Mona.
Mona Singh, the idiotic box favorite of many hails from Punjab, has time and again attributed her surprise dancing performances for great technical efforts taught to her by Toby. In her one of the first comment after winning the event, Mona thanked Toby for converting a novice like her to a dancing genius of Indian audience. Otherwise there was no comparison between her and Sweta who is known as a born dancer.
Speaking over phone to Herald, Toby said he feels privileged for having chosen to pair with Mona and is surprised to know her' enormous follow-up base by Indian audience.
Hard-work does pay, feels Toby and also have a strong faith that God do have some plans for us and everything had worked out in perfection only because of God's intervention.
Toby is known to be a regular visitor to Our Lady of Perpetual Soccour Church, at Mahim and had gone there to pray every-time he used to visit studio for competition of Jhalak Dikhla Jha. And he did prayed persistently even on the day of announcement of final results.
When asked about his feelings on judges comments of their pair, which were widely seen as mostly negative by and large, he cut it short by saying judges were simply doing their duties of being judges.
To a pointed question, Toby, 36 years of age and having most-eligible-bachelor tag, still feels his career is most important and wants to taste many more successes before giving any thought of jumping into the bandwagon of MP's ( married people's).
