It seriously sounds weird. When he was in ZNKD, then Shilpa Shetty used to call him Shushant too... 😆

Maybe Shushant stands for Shampa + Sushant.... 😆

I thought the writing had to do with the way north indians and south indians write with h in all names...

Sushant or Shushant or pronounced similar except for a "ha" sound isn't it?

I think its a Maharashtrian thing. I cant think of other examples of the top of my head but many Maharashtrains tend to have a soft 'h' between S & U in words. I think it stems from the variety of S sounds in the Marathi alphabet.

Hindi Alphabet - http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_eWv4-GazMUI/S-jsS1aen0I/AAAAAAAAACA/X7--v8bPJqk/s1600/Hindi+Alphabet.gif

Notice the extra 'Ss' in the marathi alphabet. Maharashtrians also write Sushant with the Sh after V than just S.

If he hates his name being mispronounced tell him to suck it and try living in USA where there is most likely a MAD in UDURI's name.

i get where you are coming from.. i live in canada, and they butcher names left, right!
but some consideration has to be given to the way one likes their name to be pronounced...
madhuri and malaika hear others heck sushant himself pronounce his name a certain way, so respect has to be given to that..
whats more, they live in india too... even people in canada ask me how I like my name pronounced.. and they respect that..
i guess from that POV, it can get annoying for sushant or anybody for that matter!

I think it is one thing to get upset with people mangling names even when they can say it right. However, accents, linguistics, involuntary pronunciations are not something you can hold against someone. I cannot speak for anyone else, but I find myself saying Shushant while speaking due to my Marathi frame of mind. It just happens.
