Thanks for the articles Anu..! Looking forward to her new album then..! I don't think she should participate in any of the other reality shows....all of them are the same and I doubt their fairness to a large extent...its all part of a big game the channels owners play.

Hard kaur's hard luck

May 19th, 2009 - 11:06 pm ICT by sampurn -

Last week jhalak lost another best dancer on the show. Janta showed the exit door to the Judges favourite contestant Hard Kaur.

The rap singer had performed brilliantly in Friday's episode and yet the janta didn't vote for her. Gauhar's presence though wasn't surprising. While the judges appreciated both contestants, they felt that Gauhar was slightly better on the deciding day. And, so that marked the end for Hard Kaur. In the journey of Jhalak Dikhlaja Hard Kaur has proved her versatility as dancer. "I am not hurt for getting eliminated. But what rankles is that fact I landed in the Dance off over Karan, despite getting the highest markings from the judges. I agree, I might not have been at my best then (Dance off) but you should understand my mental state at that time. The Devi's should have been considerate; agreed they have to look at choreography alone but they should have seen our past record as well," exclaims Hard Kaur.

"I have heard that the whole country is crying at my elimination, but then why they did not vote? Its time the public was educated about this. Even the channel should rethink for they are looking like fools. You can't please both the judges and public, it just does not work," whines Hard Kaur to non-supportive janta. –Sampurn Media

Here, here! 👏

I also agree that the format of the show needs to be changed. Judging on one performance while completely neglecting previous efforts is a poor way to judge someone's dancing skills.

dis article wz on in d forum posted by our very dear preksha_forever..so decided 2 post it here as well
Now I know that the better dancer never wins
Hard Kaur

Last week Hard Kaur was shockingly eliminated from Jhalak' This came as a shock not just to the viewers but for Hard Kaur as well. A versatile dancer Hard Kaur had proved her mettle on the show. A disappointed Hard Kaur opens up to Tellychakkar as she talks about her experiences at her maiden reality show.

How painful was your elimination?

It was really painful for me but more than that it was more agonising for my mother who had specially come down from London to see me perform. You know before the show began she had told me that you will face a lot of problems with voting as you are not a famous celebrity on television. I decided that I would not indulge in any drama to be famous on television but will remain what I am in real life. I think that's where I was wrong.

Are you disappointed with the Indian audience as they have opted for popularity over talent?

No, I think the Indian television audience has really changed. For the first time in Jhalak' it happened that the judges stood by a contestant and refused to judge until the right decision comes.

Which have been your best and worst moments in Jhalak..... ?

My best moment was when Saroj Ji complimented me and said that Aap jaise kalakaar mushkil se paida hote hain. (Artists like you aren't born everyday) My worst moment was when Shilpa Shukla got eliminated; she was a very good dancer. I was expecting Shilpa, Gauhar and myself to be in the finals.

Who do you think never deserved to be in Jhalak'.?

I think the show is all about making a non-dancer into a good dancer, so all current contestants are justified.

Were things really not well between you and Gauhar or was the drama created for TRPs?

No everything is absolute fine between both of us. But my only problem was that they copied some of our lifts. When we don't repeat our lifts when we perform how can you expect any other person to repeat that? And also there were some people who used to bitch about me to Gauhar and vice versa.

Who do you think should win the competition?

Gauhar, because amongst the finalists Gauhar is the best dancer.

How much of Jhalak'. is scripted and how much is reality?

Not Jhalak' only but all of the reality shows are Unreal reality. Most of the parts have been edited and thus people are misguided. The channel wants both the popular and the best performer to be in your show but when it comes to choosing between the two then the best performer is left out. Now I know that the better dancer never wins and you can see this in the previous seasons of Jhalak'.. too.

After rapping, singing and dancing is it time to act?

Yes why not? But only if I like the script.

What is the status of the movie which was being scripted by Aditya Bhattacharya on your life?

I really don't know about the current status because I haven't met him in a long time. I don't know where he is but it was based on the 1982 Sikh riots when I was only ten years old. It could be a good film if it sees the light of the day.

Who was your favourite judge and why?

It's very difficult to say but I like Vaibhavi because she knows technicalities whereas Saroj Ji is best in noticing even the smallest mistake. Juhi was also good, though sometimes she took the right decision and sometimes she did not. I think Juhi is a tremendous actress as well as a dancer but when it comes to judging a dance show you need to have a choreographer but not an actor.

Saroj Khan said that she was expecting Karan in the dance- off and not you. What's your take on that?

You can not blame the public but the channel. The channel needs money and at the same time it wants a good performer to be a part of the show which is not possible. So I thank all the judges that this is one time that they opposed a wrong decision.

How do you think you can help Savio who is still stuggling to get a toe-hold in the industry?

From now on he is going to choreograph all my live shows. He is a talent and I don't want this kind of talent to struggle.

Are you in a relationship with anyone?

Yes I am, but that's a private thing and I will announce it when the time is right.

Tell us about your new album?

Right now I am doing an album with the famous band D-12 and it will feature Richa Sharma also. It will be a combination of some of our greatest musicians.

Another article about Hard Kaur:

Gauhar & I are not friends: Hard Kaur

21 May 2009, 0019 hrs IST, RITU VERMA

Hard Kaur's exit from Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa was no less than a surprise. Despite getting the highest marks and loads of appreciation from judges,

the rapper couldn't make it to the finals.

She came with a bang, enthralled us with her moves and amazed us with what she calls her 'NRI Mujra'. Unfortunately, she could not get enough public votes.

The lively lady is not at all disappointed with her elimination and feels like a 'winner' already.

What was your first reaction after the results were announced? Had you been expecting it?

The first thing that came to my mind post-elimination was 'holidays'. I used to invest eight-12 hours everyday for rehearsals. So now, I can just chill out for sometime.

The only thing that upset me was that after attaining highest marks, I didn't deserve to stand in the face-off. It's quite humiliating and I felt really bad for my choreographer, Savio. But at the end, our motive was to earn respect and we did that. Everyone was in tears after the results were announced. Even the judges protested against the decision.

You were one of the judges' favorites and always scored well. After coming so far, were you expecting to win?

Savio and I never expected to win, but we always tried to maintain a high standard. Ultimately, everyone started expecting the same from us. Out of hundred people I meet now, 95 say they expected me to win. I feel lucky to get so much of love and support. I feel like a winner already.

Who do you think is the weakest contender among Gauhar Khan, Karan Singh Grover and Baichung Bhutia?

If you talk about dancing skills, Gauhar is definitely better than both the guys. I really wanted me, Shilpa Shukla and Gauhar to be in the top three. The competition level would have been fierce.

Do you think it's fair enough to rely on public voting for elimination?
It's definitely unfair but then that's the format of the show. You can't help it when the channel is only interested in earning money. What's the point of having a jury then? All the judges really tried hard to take the best dancers forward. But audiences have their own reasons for voting.

You made some friends and some foes during the show. So who falls into the 'friends' category?

That would surely include Mohinder Amarnath. He is such a sweetheart and was quite friendly with all the participants on the show. I got along well with Shilpa too. She has a great sense of humour.

What went wrong between Gauhar and you?
We have never been great friends, but I have no personal grudges against her. She first targeted Karan, then Praul and then me. There is no point looking stupid on television for somebody else's entertainment. Shilpa and me used to tell each other, how does all this matter; let us just concentrate on losing weight.

I guess all the things that Gauhar said was because of the competition pressure. I knew, once Jhalak wraps up, everyone will get back to their lives and wouldn't bother with what happened on the show. I think it was deliberately highlighted.

You carried off the Mujra act so well, how did you manage to that.
I am glad that people liked my NRI style 'Mujra'. It was quite a lot of fun and a different task for me.

Tell us something about your partner Savio.
We did not have any arguments throughout the show. I always respected his ideas and never said no to him. From my side he was creatively free to try anything. I only used to tell him one thing ' let's do something different.

A quality that makes you better from rest of the participants...
It has to be my passion for dancing.

One thing that you have learned from Jhalak ?
Always be yourself.

Out of 10, how would you rate your journey on Jhalak ?
Ten on ten without a doubt. I made great friends, learnt some great forms of dancing and had loads of fun.

What else is keeping you busy at the moment?

I am about to finish off my second album and recording for a few Bollywood movies too. Soon I will be leaving for a world tour with Sunidhi Chauhan and Sonu Nigam.
