What do you think are the weak points of the present contestants of Jhalak, like what should they work upon to better themselves ...
Eg:- I feel Isha should try to better her expressions... But i'm not saying she is bad, just that i feel it will better her performance if she does...

Common tell me if you feel something about any contestants...
And i'm looking for some healthy discussion, so no bashing allowed... and its only an indsividual opinion, so one should not question other's opinion

Lovely Topic TM 👍🏼

Isha: As you already pointed out, Isha has issues with her expressions especially in her last couple of performances. I didn't see that problem in the beginning 6-7 acts, may be they worked on it more then. Also I can't say she isn't versatile, cuz for me they have brought quite many dance forms on the stage, but I would definitely like her to perform on some Indian dance form. Let's see if they even perform at all.

Rithvik: Rithvik, though being an excellent dancer, doesn't connect with me. I feel their acts lack that proper emotion. For me he can be as flawless, but his dance seems mechanical. May be because his energy overshadows their performances, I don't know, but there is something which makes it hard for me to connect with his acts.

Bharti: Her weaknesses are endless cuz she is not that great of a dancer. All her acts revolve around comedy, very monotonous and takes away from their dancing and expressions. Her biggest weakness is that she doesn't deserve to be on top 5.

GC: It seems GC has shown improvement cuz I feel Shampa works very hard to mask his weaknesses and so does he. His weakness is his stiff body (whatever the reason might be), clumsiness with his steps and the fact that his steps are simple from time to time. He isn't that great of a dancer, but his expressions take the cake here, they brighten his acts and also mask his weaknesses.

Rashmi: Good dancer with great expressions. But I feel these expressions are given more emphasis than the actual dance. Thus I had problem with their last performance which seemed quite simple dance wise.

Karan: Very similar problem as GC. Too much emphasis on the Hero quality and his six packs. Clumsiness, not finishing his steps, simple choreography, can get quite monotonous. Wish he had come from day 1 to see more improvement and versatility which we haven't seen so far.

Rashmi is excellent in dance and expressions but she needs to work on her lifts and drops... as pointed by Remo few times her drop is heavy...
Ritvik is an excellent dancer but he is over energetic and puts too much effort in all forms of dance except one in which he was lil calm and I can't recollect it...
GC , actually no comments ... I prefer refraining frm commenting on this participant
Isha , as you pointed def needs to work on her expressions... and I would love to see her doing some classical dance
Bharti is more of entertainer and not a dancer so I will leave it there ... Dance wise she has a long way to go
Nice topic BTW 😊

Great topic👍🏼

Isha - as others have mentioned before me, expressions is her weakness but not in all dance forms. She is good with expressions in Contemporary dance forms but something that requires light expressions, she tends to over-do them a bit (the last Argentinge Tango performance - was it an Argentine Tango? another discussion topic altogether)

Gurmeet - stiffness and his ability to portrary characters well - although it's his biggest and best strength it's also his weakness which he has improved on since his Devdas performance but in the latest performance - Pasodoble - I felt his portrayal of the character somehow made his stiffness more prominent in the act.

Karan - broken, choppy movements/steps. I somehow can't connect with his performances. I didn't like his Wild Card entry either but it was good, nonetheless. And his hero quality as someone said earlier - it tends to overshadow his dance somehow.

Rashmi - good expressions but she tends to over-do them at times - the Lindy hop performance. Also her lifts - sometimes they are not as smoothly executed as they should be, perhaps.

Rithvik - his energy overshadows his actual talent. You can see through his performances that he loves dancing and that is great but he needs to keep his energy in check. Btw, I don't think his level of energy or expressiveness is suited for a Contemporary number. But others like Michael Jackson style, hip-hop - suits his energy.

Bharti - this lady has guts but her steps tend to be too simple and I wish just once she would do a normal act - by that I mean something lighthearted, not comedy or drama or emotional but a normal performance.

I would like to mention some of those who are already eliminated:

Darsheel - he needs to feel and depict the emotions to the right extent - I guess that's where age and experience comes into play - which he is too young for now. I thought in some emotional acts he overacted and the romance acts, there wasn't any. But he is a great dancer and I guess and hope as he grows up he'll learn to express them well.

Shibani - language barrier - it's what restricts her from enacting the emotions to the 'Tee' - be it comedy or sad or item number type dance forms. The great thing about her is that she is an all-rounder. She can easily mold into any dance form and do it well too. I haven't seen any other contestant with this capability on JDJ5 so far. Others tend to be better in some dance forms and good in some but not like Shibani.

Gia - trying something new - it's a strength as it requries a lot of guts but a weakness at the same time. This is a competition where while you are trying to do new things each time, you also need to play to your strengths and that is what was missing from her acts.

Pratyusha - energy - she lacks it but she has the grace a dancer needs. She has this fluidity which I have seen very rarely.

Archana - she has got the natural rythm but I guess she just needs to forget about how she is looking when she is performing. I still remember that Foxtrot performance - her constant fixing of her hair ruined that beautiful performance. I don't like Foxtrot too much but I thought the choreography, the execution was really well done had Archana stopped fixing her fringe every two seconds and giving smiling poses every 3 seconds.

p.s. these are just my OPINIONS not facts!

Finally i have a topic to comment on in this forum👏 Great Topic TM :)

Bharti- She badly need to be out of the show firstly but just normally dance wise or rather for just Bharti as a dancer , i believe she needs to work on her energy levels and on the flow of her steps. Her moves are usually lacking flow and there is often a pause in her performance when she goes form one step to another. Bharti also needs to learn the art of focus and concentration , i often see her getting lost and loosing focuc and missing out her steps.

Rithvik- I have often seen Rithvik getting confused while performing as in i ahve seen him looking at Sneha with blank expressions at times..just some times , so her needs to work on that . Apart from this he had these Energy issues which of course has been sorted out by him as teh performances have gone by.

Isha- The only and only thing which i have felt that has to be looked at by Isha is her body language in non-aerial dances. Though i loved Isha's TDP act and The Bollywood one too , i still felt that at times she gets that "aerial" thing in her bollywood performances and its not her fault also as she has been doing this regularly since childhood so its kind of imprinted in her system now.Apart from this , i have no issues with her expressions , i am Okay with them.

Gurmeet- Just a bit stiffness in the upper body is an issue for GC and this is because he is someone who is involved in Martial Arts and action stuff so when he does these non-action performances this stiffness of his arises which he needs to work on. Apart from this, Gurmeet is a very watchable , entertaining and innovative performer.

Rashmi- Nothing. She needs to work on nothing as i believe she is a graceful and a wonderful performer. I have always been a fan of Rashmi's dance. At times , just at times she reminds me of Madhuri. She has the perfect expressions , perfect energy levels and beautifully done steps. She has this "whole bucket full "of grace which makes me love all her performances. So, i am a big time Rashmi's dance fan and i believe she is just Parrfect👍🏼.

isha needs to improve her expressions as u said and salman needs to work on that and help her

bharti is not at all a dancer she is a comedian i enjoy her act but not dance. her all performances ends as if it s comedy
she needs to improve her dancing instead of comedy

Thank you for this post. Once in a blue moon I feel like visiting this forum and it is a treat when I come across posts such as these.

Firstly I want to say that I have completely lost interest in this show. I'll still keep track on the happenings since it is just another 3 weeks but all the drama has been pretty nauseating.

Secondly, I think when we look at a contestant and judge that contestant we bring in a lot of our own prejudices or biases towards the contestants. When I watch them performing I try to look at their dance from a choreographers view point and try to keep my own prejudices/biases out of it as much as possible. I am not always successful, like last week, I am glad I didn't break my computer in frustration while watching Bharti.

Now coming to their weaknesses, I would also like to speak about their strengths if you don't mind. Whenever we offer someone constructive criticism, it is always nice to first say their positives. 😃

1) Bharti

Strength: Her endurance. Wether the channel keeps her or the voters, she still has to come every week and perform. That takes a lot of mental strength not to give up and walk out of the competition.

Weakness: Unfortunately everything else. Her dancing: while she has attempted different things, her dancing hasn't improved much. Maybe because of her limitations. Last week, I had to fast forward her Gorrilla act because I just couldn't stomach it any more.

2) Ritvik

Strength: Energy, energy, energy. I love his energy. A good dancer who. Almost always makes use of the entire stage. Excellent follow through with the dance steps.

Weakness: there is a saying too much of everything is not a good thing. Same with Ritvik. If his energy is his plus point it can also be his downfall. If he had been in the competition maybe he would have had an opportunity to harness it better and showcase more dances that requires subtle movements.

I would give him the title of being the most energetic dancer in the fab five.

3) Reshmi:

Strength: Fantastic dancer. Challenges herself. Very expressive. Versatile (by that I mean she does not attempt dances that look repetitive). The one dancer who I think had she been on the show from day 1 had the potential to completely sideline Isha. She may not have Isha's finesse but her expressions and her versatility would have been her trump cards.

Weakness: Sometimes has the tendency to focus more on her expressions than the dance in itself. As a result her acts loses the oomph factor from time to time.

I would give her the title of being the complete package among the fab five.

4) Gurmeet:

Strength: Amazing expressions. Ability to push himself out of his comfort zone. A risk taker. If I was a teacher, he would be the kind of student I would love to have in my class. He knows his weakness yet does not scare him from taking risks and facing failure. Lot of self belief; one of the best traits to improve yourself.

Weakness: Stiffness in his upper body (although he has improved a lot), does not follow through many times and as result steps can look incomplete which also makes it difficult for him to transition onto the next step.

I would give him the title of being the most improved contestant on the show and the most courageous among the fab five.

5) Isha:

Strength: Phenomenal dancer in her area of expertise. Agile. Amazing endurance. Fantastic flexibility. Watching her dance in areas she excels in is like watching poetry in motion. Fantastic ability to conceptualize an act along with her choreographer. Consistency.

Weakness: Expressions or rather lack of it. Most of the time her expressions do not connect with the song or it looks very forced. Not a risk taker. Chooses different dance forms but integrates only few steps of the dance form she is attempting, rest are steps in her area of expertise. Which then runs the risk of making her look repetitive. But the plus side of that is it also makes her look consistent. When she does try new things, her steps falter because she has difficulty letting go of the form that comes naturally to her.

I would give her the title of being the most consistent dancer among the fab five.

Wow now that is what one calls constructive criticism...
Its very obvious that you are a person who is very deeply biased towards a good dance performance😆, no soft corner for any specific contestant... And i believe i too am somewhat like that, just wanna see some good dancing, dont care from whom it comes...
