Infidelity is not for me'

Life has been one roller coasterride for Ayub Khan, but the actor has taken it all in his stride. From making his debut on the big screen to earning accolades for his performance on the small screen, he's come a long way. "It's not been a smooth ride, but I've learnt from every experience. And I have no complaints." Talking about what kept him going when the going got tough, he says, "A person is a loser only if he stops trying and I never want that loser tag." Currently playing business tycoon Aman Dhanrajgeer on Sony's Jeete Hain Jiske Liye, Ayub says that it's amazing working on the serial 'because we have a great time on the sets.' And was he okay with the time leap? "I would have been bothered if I was 18-years-old. In fact, I'm glad that I get to show my real grey hair," he laughs and on a serious note adds, "The time leap was always a part of the script and not added to boost TRP's as is the misconception." So, what about talks of the serial going off air? "I haven't been informed about it yet and any ways there's nothing I can do about it." Does he feel the pinch of the small screen being dominated by female protagonists. "There's certainly a dearth of male-dominated roles. But then it also becomes more challenging to carve a niche for yourself in the given scenario. There are actors like Ronit Roy, who've already done that." Working for a daily is very draining, so where does that leave his family life? "Well, they certainly bear the brunt of it," he smiles. "It's tough being an actor, there are sacrifices we have to make. My daughters are in Bangalore for vacations and I'm missing them terribly. But then such is life. C'est La Vie," he adds. With extra-marital affairs ruling the roost, has he ever felt attracted to anyone off sets, "No, never! Infidelity is not for me. I love and respect Niharika far too much. I agree there are temptations, but none is worth it. I value Niharika too much. She and my daughters are my pillars of strength. I can never do without them."
