Having to play a central character, as Aman in Jeeta Hain Jiske Liye, must feel a welcome break? That was among the temptations in doing this project. I wasn't enjoying negative roles any more. Also Renuka Shahane was making a comeback and we've been friends since her film days. Last week's jump in TRPs has only boosted confidence further. Now we are taking a 20-year leap in the story which, I must add, was always there in the script — we had delayed it because we thought we should let the background build a bit. At the same time, working for a daily is very draining. My wife, Niharika, who takes the hardest hit of my schedules calls me a myth because I'm never there. How do you beat the stress? My children, Tahura and Zohra, are my haven. I have to also credit other cast members as there's such great camaraderie.< I've been around for seven years now and it's been a learning process. There was a time when there was a constant battle in my head. How do I portray what I don't believe in? To add to it I would get feedback on how unconvincing I looked in one scene or the other. Now I have made peace with those demons. I have realised I just have to do what I have been asked to do. The strangest thing is you can't leave TV, the minute you decide so, a craving comes over you. Does that mean films are off the rooster? Unfortunately, yes. There's just no time, even to discuss a film role. I miss films especially for their outdoor shoots. Though working conditions in films and TV are becoming similar with 12-hour shifts. What do you watch on TV?M A lot of reality shows, Discovery, news—I can't watch soaps or films, I don't have the patience for things so predictable. Few years from now what would you rather be doing on TV? Be a location hunter. Travel the world and get paid for it. And seriously speaking? The one thing any actor would tell you is that they want to be worshipped. |
