Mona Singh has replaced Shveta Salve as Jhalak anchor. Urmila has agreed to be a judge, while talks are also on with Shiamak Davar

Shveta Salve

Finally, there's some concrete news coming from the Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa camp — some pleasant and some not-so-pleasant ones.

For starters, Shveta Salve, who was to host the Sony reality show with Rohit Roy, has been replaced by Mona Singh.

Left in a lurch

MERRY GO ROUND: Shiamak Davar, Urmila Matondkar and Mona Singh (clockwise)
Shveta is clueless about the reasons for her ouster, but she takes it in her stride. "These things happen. Yes, I was looking forward to it, but never mind," says Salve.

Apparently, the makers felt that Mona has a warmer and more viewer-friendly personality than Shveta, hence the eleventh hour change was initiated.

Rohit refuses to play the anchor without rancour. "I'm aware of the change. It will be interesting to see how the show goes," is all he says. Mona coyly refused to comment.

Pleasant news

The refreshing news is that Jhalak 2 will see a fresh set of judges as none of the judges from the first season — Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Farah Khan (both busy directing their respective films) and Shilpa Shetty — have agreed to return on the show.

As reported earlier, Urmila Matondkar was approached to be one of the celeb judges on the show. It is learnt that Bollywood's Oomphmati has given her confirmation to the channel heads.

The makers are also in talks with choreographer Shiamak Davar to be part of the panel. As for the third judge, there's no news floating around as of now.
