Mona is in a Soup!

Mona Singh's Bollywood dreams are getting bigger. When film producers told her that she had a heavy Punjabi accent, she promptly took action. She shunned English newspapers and started reading only Hindi newspapers. Now she is hellbent on shedding off all extra pounds, since she's been told that she's too much on the heavy side.

Mona's on a strict diet regime to ensure an hour-glass figure, and one that will get film producers knocking on her door. Mona's fitness diet has no place for fattening foods, even the humble chappati and rice are a strict no-no. She has been surviving only on salads and soups.

Besides her diet regime, Mona has also hired a fitness instructor, Satya, who trains other film stars. Says an excited Mona, "I am really working hard on the fitness bit. I have been advised to have salads and soups so that I can be slimmer."

Mona shares her daily routine with us. "My morning begins with a glass of hot water with lime. After which I work out for three hours at a stretch. When I am tired after this entire workout, I have a bowl of salad and soup just before leaving for work. In between if I am too hungry, I eat an apple. Then, at night, I have a bowl of salad and a bowl of soup.

Why is she punishing herself? "It is not punishment. I'm just working hard towards a goal. Sometimes, I do miss having chappati and all those yummy dishes that I'm crazy about. I must say resisting tempting food is really tough," she adds.
