When the first force of Armaan's depression is spent, he looks around and becomes aware of his surroundings. Knocking against the bars, he demands, "Inspector, I know the law….mujhe ek phone call karne ka haq hai!"
The inspector is not there; a constable hears this and thinking Armaan has called him inspector, is pleased enough to let him out rather gruffly and allow him to use the phone. He immediately calls Meghna. She is in Gulmohur when her phone rings.
Meg: Armaan….bolo…is everything ok? Jassi?
Armu: Meghna, mujhe Jassi ko kidnap karne ke charge par aarest kar liya gaya hai!
Meg: WHAT???? Armaan!! I told you….jaldi mein kuch mat karna…..but you…..
Armu: Cut that out! Main lambi baat nahin kar sakta…..wo Ashmit, Jassi ko aaj shaam hospital se discharge kara lega…..mujhe kisi bhi haalat mein shaam hone se pehle yahaan se nikalna hai…Meghna, kuch bhi karo…Jassi ki safety ab tumahaare haath mein hai!
Meg: (flabbergasted) M..main Armaan? But how? Agar main yahaan se lawyer bhi bhejti hun toh wo kal subah se pehle wahaan pahunch hi nahin sakta…..Armaan, you have to wait till tomorrow morning…..
Armu is so upset that he slams down the phone. He tries to plead with the constable, but to no avail. The inspector comes in at this moment and gets Armu back behind bars.
Meghna has been so engrossed in talking that she has failed to notice that Raj has been standing nearby and heard everything! When she cuts the call, she lifts her head and stops short on seeing him. He gazes reproachfully at her.
Raj: (low, quiet voice) Armaan kisi problem mein hai?
Meg nods miserably and tells him the whole story. Raj sinks down on a chair and gives her an injured look. "Aur tum mujhe ab bata rahi ho?"
Meg: Raj, wo tumhe pareshaan nahin karna chahta tha….tumhari shaadi hone wali hai na…..and we had no idea ki situation itni serious ho jayegi.
He gets up angrily. "Armaan ko apne dost par bharosa nahin hai…na sahi! Lekin Meghna, tum mein toh itni akal honi chahiye thi na? Ab kahin bahut der na ho jaye….anyway, ab main aise nahin baith sakta….main abhi Kangra ja raha hun!"
Meg: (looking enormously relieved) Wait, main apne lawyer ko bhi contact karke tumhaare saath bhejti hun…he'll be a help.
He signals to her to hurry, muttering, "I just hope Jhansi ki Rani safe ho!"
Ashmit arrives at the hospital at the dot of 6, and is gratified to know that Jassi can now go with him. Showering her with compliments and a bouquet of roses, he leads her to his car. She is walking listlessly, staring blankly at him when he tells her something.
Armaan's voice keeps ringing in her head. "Jassi, sirf ek baar mein aankhon mein dekh lo…" "Jassi, apne dil ki awaaz suno…." "Jassi, mera dil tumse kya keh raha hai?"
Ashmit drives her to his mansion and opens the front door for her. "Welcome home!"
Darkness is falling, but the gloom outside is nothing compared to that in Armaan's eyes. He is thinking of all the beautiful times he has spent with Jassi (sad version of Tu meri jaan hai plays in the background.)
When he opens his eyes, he sees the constable before him, saying gruffly, "Chalo….tumhari bail ho gayi hai!"
