Ugly betty-MY thoughts....

I really liked Betty.Her smile is just like Jassi's...innocent and her whole Face lights up.On top of that I find betty really cute !! 😳

Haii.......So theres no Mallika as such.Just a scary looking female whose after Daniel and his post and of course Maddy seems to be her some sort of chamcha.😕

Didnt like Betty's boyfriend.Infact the Bro was more endearing!! Nandu is supposed to be cute and Funny not a sob story.😆

And last....

Daniel is no way a an Armaan/Armando.Daniel I actually Found was sweet Innocent not hot tempered ,sacred of his dad waiting to prove himself and more than that He has no arrogance no Mallika/marcela And for some reason he squeaks Instead of oozing over-confidence.And his womanizing ways are a Little over the Top.
Armando/Armaan were ones who would just sweep the woman off thier with suave charming ways.....Daniel seems more Of a Raj who literally runs behind.Not make them run behind you..😛

And there are some very major Flaws...Like when Betty bumps into daniel.Daniel said 'sorry'. And I still remember Armaan bumps into jassi and he jsut goes off without picking her stuff and noticing that he actually bumped her and proceeds to scream at Maddy.

Daneil Seems more of sweet well mannered Gal lovng guy who just wants to prove to his dad he's something.Whatever happened to that brash over- confidence that he will indeed be the best which was one of Armaan's major traits??

I Dunno why they have toned his Character down soo much.Fernando was a genuis in creating each character of Betty la fea and thats why it was such a big Hit.

Cant belive the Indian version reatained more of the original than the American did.😳

Yeh Walter was pathetic, more like a Joydeep of Kyunki. I prefer Nandu anyday. He shared a beautiful friendship with Jassi with no romantic interests. 😃

Betty greatest ally at Mode is the tailor Christina just like Jassi had her friends in the sewing department. 😳

I do not know much about the original but your right Daniel pales in comparison to Armu. Armu's arrogance and confidence is far greater than Danny's whose sensitive side they showed rather quickly. Danny is not really a jerk just more of a guy trying to come out of the shadow of his brother/sister 😆 (I cannot determine whether Wilamina is Aryan's counterpart or is it Alex) and prove his worth to his overbearing father, who is womaniser himself. 😆 Danny's womanising ways are OTT. Armu was more subtle.

Danny does have a Malika..a la Amanda except that she has no authority to be urging him to love her back. She just pines for him and would go against him to save her own skin. On second thoughts maybe she is not Malika, she is Pari!😆

Betty is adorable; she has that simple smile and glowing innocence on her face. She has more responsibilities on her head with her father's illness so she tends to get agitated more and whips Danny into shape when he whines. There is no fear of her bosses raging temper. Betty is his motivator; she gives him his much needed pep talks.

Betty-Danny's relationship is different to Jassi-Armu as B-D eased into a friendly alliance and as of yet have no romantic feelings for each other because Betty is gun ho about her Henry (Purabi).

Jassi always supports Armu minus the CEO conflicts but he did not always appreciate her and took his time to develop the trust. Danny on the other hand has a better rapport with Betty and he respects his relationship with her from quite early on. Plus, Betty is not shown as the brains of the entire operation as Danny does pull out good business ideas but yeh Betty/Jassi are just as efficient, loyal and hardworking as they are meant to be.

All in all Jassi is a class apart. Its adapted the story to suit the Indian sentiments as well as retaining the essence of the integral characters.

And Betty does not harbour feelings for her Boss.Looks like they changed the whole crux of the story.

I would not have guessed from your post that your observations are only from the pilot episode, as you pinpointed the parallels so well and spotted the major difference between two versions of the core characters. I suppose the pilot epi set the premise of show quite well as the gist of all the characters were presented straight-away. I cannot make that many assumptions as I'm still in the process of watching Jassi and I've only viewed the first season of U.B.
I'm not sure if they have developed the love angle between Betty and Danny yet because so far they have been shown as good friends, each other's confidantes. Danny hails from a semi-broken home with his father's infidelity driving his mother to alcoholism. He envies Betty's close-knit family which shows that although he is materially wealthy, she is rich with relationships. I get the impression that Danny is like a child, like Armu would sometimes be like. Although, Armu was an only child right, whereas Danny faces the feelings of being the neglected child, with his elder brother being his parents favourite.
Nevertheless, Jassi still rocks more as U.B can never have JandA's passion!!!😳

Looks like they have changed a lot.Didnt salma like the original version?Td copied everything thoroughly and then at the very end deciced they would try ekta tricks on Jassi and spoilt it.But Neverthe less for two years it was great only with a-j marrige they dint know how to continue it.They should have just ended it gracefully.😡

Anyways daniel from a dysfunctional family.Eeks.....Armaan was very proud of his parents and always wanted a life partner who he could settle with for life and was heavily inspired by his Mom and Dad.I think one of the reason he kept delaying his break -up with Mallika was that he wanted to please his parants and show he's good at keeping relatioship and at managaing the business.Somehow he couldnt and the guilt used to eat him up when Jassi was the one who used to give him the encouragement and coax him to be truthful to his Dad.Ultimately how he learns to deal with these problems Forms one of the major stories Of Jassi and betty la fea.

The way Armaan learsn to deal with all this at a point of time in Life when his Biggest support exposes him to both to his dad and Mallika and leaves Gulmohur and breaks him down and how Armaan with the power of love Overcomes it all by himself Finally.

Hmmm....I wonder wether Daniel will fake love to betty and sleep with her.Maybe Daniel is afterall not grey.Just a guy we need to sympathise with.

Sharmii nice analysis. I was never impressed with Ugly Betty. I love our JJKN and the original any day. T and D did a great job. Ugly Betty has been created keeping the American psyche in mind.

I did try to watch a couple of episodes last season more out of curiosity than anything else. But gave up soon. 😆 😆 😆

Me too, it was just not the same, the points you have mentioned sharmi di acted as a huge drawback for me, I hardly watched two episodes and then I gave up
