I am kind of new to I-F but since I joined the forum I have been regularly reading and writing. This is a very good topic and I would like to share my story with you all :-

I am a north indian from delhi and my hubby is a south indian (tamilian) but born and brought up in Maharashtra. We both fell in love - u know where, here in US - and decided to get married. With some ups and down, my parents agreed and u know what - we got married twice. Once as per his tradition (a proper tamilian marriage) and second as per my tradition.

The morning marriage (tamilian) was fabulous - very different and new and all my relatives enjoyed it. The best part was where in my hubby was to pretend that he is going to Kashi and not going to get married to me. My relatives thought that it was for real and they kindda got worried but later when it was explained to them what it was about they had a hearty laugh. It was so different for me to wear the 9 yard sari and i was decked up with flowers etc. Really enjoyed it.

And the evening marriage was a proper north indian sindhi wedding with lots of pomp and show. My hubby came wearing sehra but not on a horse (he refused) , in a decorated car. Now it was turn of his relatives to enjoy - they danced a lot on dhol outside the banquet hall. THey were not ready to come inside and my husband was getting impatient - he wanted to see me as soon as possible (judai sahi nahi ja rahi thi 😃). And as soon as he came inside, we had some rasam where in he had to remove his shoes and wow - salis took his shoes and hid them (yeh waise to fairon ke time hota hai but my cousins took the shoes as soon as they got the opportunity). He had to shove off few dollars to get his shoes back...

it is so good to go down the memory lane...😊
