ok for you serious ones out there here goes:

First Step:

The couple invokes the gods for plenty of pure and nourishing food. "With God as our guide, let us take the first step to live with honour and respect. Let us walk together so we get food," the couple prays.

Second Step:
With the second step, the couple prays to the Gods to give them the mental, physical and spiritual strength to lead a healthy life. "Let us be happy and enjoy life. Let us walk together so we grow together in strength," they pray.

Third Step:
The third step is for preserving wealth and prosperity in life. The chant at this stage means, "let us share joys and pains together. Let us walk together so we get wealth."

Fourth Step:
With the fourth step, the bride and groom invoke the gods for attainment of happiness and harmony by mutual love and trust in all walks of life. "Let us not forget parents and elders. Let us walk together so we get happiness by sharing our joys and sorrows," they say.

Fifth Step:
They pray for the welfare of all living beings in the Universe and pray for virtuous, noble and heroic children." Let us observe all acts of charity. Let us walk together so we have family," the mantras say.

Sixth Step:
They ask the gods to give them a long, joyous life and togetherness forever. "Let us live a long and peaceful life. Let us walk together so we have joy," the couple prays.

Seventh Step:
With the seventh, and last, step, the couple prays for understanding, companionship, loyalty and unity. "Let us be friends with love and sacrifice. Let us walk together so we have friendship," the holy chants signify.
After the seventh step has been taken, the groom says to the bride: "With seven steps we have become friends. Let me reach your friendship. Let me not be severed from your friendship. Let your friendship not be severed from me." With completion of the saptapadi, the two are pronounced husband and wife.

BL n Lash 😆

King Solomon is highly tickled. 😉

Okay BL. One human to another. rather one noble blood to another!😉

The pheraas symbolise the vows the copule take around the holy fire. The fire is supposed to be Agni Bhagwaan who stands witness to the holy union between two souls.

The meaning of the 7 pheraas:

1.) From his moment onwards, we are inseparable. Morally, physically, emotionally, mentally, we are one.

2.) We will partake of each other's happiness and sorrows. This is the ardhaangini concept. We will be each other's salt. (We have a salt ceremony which is considered very very important.)

3.) The hubby will provide mental, emotional and every other type of security to his wife.

4.) The woman takes the lead now. I will be the forerunner in death.

5.) I will beget you children you will be proud of.

6.) I will be your mate in your youth. Your companion in your middle-age and your nurse in your old age.

7.) The final pheraa seals the Janmaanthara bandhanam between them. That is, the couple promise to abide by their vows and promise to repeat the cycle comprising of 7 Janmaas or births till they attain Moksha or salvation and snap out of the cycle of punar janmaa or re-birth.

This is according to the South-Indian system of marriage. You may watch 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam' to know about the north Indian interpretation of the pheraas. Ash beautifully explains the meaning of each pheraa in that movie.

Thanks Lash. That was indeed enlightning. If the law allowed, i am ready to take the plunge Now!

2.) Pre-nup's supposed to be similar to a business proposition. You share the risk factor and the bond's a written proof of that fact.

Don't know about others but Deepa won't mind thinking about divorce and other such things before marriage. She believes in preparing for the worst.😉 Pre-nup's not a bad idea but higly unromantic and if her would-be offered her that, God help him!

3.) I have heard people saying an idle mind's a devil's workshop. No idea if it's true or not. 'Idle' doesn't exist in my dictionary.

T n Dn G believe that BL. That's why theyv'e given them plenty of work. Thatz why they keep flaunting their vampish smiles, teeth, churning out pathetic schemes, experiemnt with Polka dots, Surya Bhagwaan signature sarees, Dark lipsticks, exciting tears in the form of rivers from the viewers, etc, etc!😉

4.) Excuse me? I can write a whole thesis on what all Armaan can give J apart from love! But, that's too private to be disclosed here! And you are attempting something dangerous here, my friend. You are exercising your grey cells while watching JJKN which may prove to be highly injurious to your health.

5.) Yes we are. We are still watching the show inspite of it steadily going downhill and some of us like stupid me are actually pledging support to the great makers of the show. And JD still trusts them and is as optimistic as ever.

😆

Don't know about rest but I am stupid!

And I am very proud of the fact!😃

So, Bl, all set to write a thesis on the 7 pheraas?

You may title it as 'The 7 steps to doom or bliss?' - By Her Highness The Princess Bluelotus, Dedicated to the Dark Lord, Mr.Armaan Suri!

(Dark because he's a complex character!)

😉😆

ARMAAN JASSI FOREVER!

Hi Deepa,

Thank you for this enlightenment on pheras. Again, as tempting as your suggestion on writing the book, I am not interested nor have the time for it. My handsome outlaw is keeping me busy and I have understood that though he is very handsome, Arman is not intelluctually compatible with me. His looks alone doesn't tempt me any more. His stupidness is superceeding his virtues. So I prefer to stand back and watch Monica, Princess and Tabu fight each other over Arman and allowvJP to drool over him. I am quite happy and content with my smart outlaw who is not only handsome but intelligent as well.

And Please don't call him darklord, because it reminds me of Lord VoIdemort.

I really miss Arman's lambe lambe baal though .......................................

😆

Deepa, Dont be impulsive as our adorable jerk "The dark Lord Armaan Suri"..

Trust me... mark my words...

I still have faith in the makers..

They may try to seperate Jassi and Armaan but PKD gang will never succeed...

I have complete faith in Armaan and Jassi's love.. So be prepared to watch them getting married at the end.. THE END.. when I am not sure..

I am highly optimistic.... when it comes to Armaan and Jassi..

Let the third, fourth, fifth character enter.. I really dont care...I will keep watching till the end...
