KO - 'Mona is someone special'

Karan Oberoi is still playing the waiting game. He hesitates to call Mona Singh the love of his life and sticks to the predictable "we are good friends" routine. Push him and he concedes. "Give us time and maybe you'll hear something more in the coming months," he says. So what's with Karan's constant presence in her life? He was a constant on Jhalk Dikhhla Jaa, which his Mona Darling eventually won. It's obvious to everyone that Karan's become an unofficial member of her family. Here's grilling Jassi's loverboy …….

When did you first meet her family ?
I met them at Malaysia when we went for the Jassi shoot.

What do they think of you?
Hopefully, like everyone else, they think I'm a simple, sweet guy.

How close are you to her family?
I'm very fond of her folks and really respect the way they've brought Mona up. I've grown closer to her family over time. I was also with them during Jhalak whenever it was possible for me to attend the shoot.

What do your parents think of her?
Just what everyone who knows her well, thinks. That she is a simple, sweet and down-to-earth girl.

Are you ready to commit?
Every relationship needs its time and space. I believe that for two people to be together, it's important to give adequate attention to the relationship. Being with someone is a beautiful feeling but at the same time it also requires nurturing. I'm not those types who will hide the presence of that person in my life, but I also won't go screaming from rooftops. I think right now, both of us are still taking time to enjoy each other's company and spend as much time together as we possibly can. Both our schedules make it difficult for us to spend quality time.

Tell us three things that attracted you to Mona
She has an amazing sense of humour and always keeps me in splits. In spite of all the popularity, she's a simple and grounded girl and never hesitates to speak her mind. I also like the fact that she's honest and straightforward. You will never find her beating around the bush, she's direct and to the point.

Have you been in love before?
Yes, I have. I think it's very important to have love in your life. It just makes every moment spent more special.

When will we hear an official announcement from you and Mona?
I don't know, there's no such fixed date or time period. At the moment we're discovering and learning things about each other. I think I'm enjoying this phase with her and what it evolves into and becomes, will be a gradual process.
