Some time back, I had described how I pictured MandA in some of my favourite movies. I know that they will most probably not work together again, but what is the harm in dreaming?😊
Somehow I missed out many movies in that list; so it called for a Part2.
Here are some of the roles that I see MandA doing justice to:
HUM TUM:
I just can't fathom how I left this out the first time. It is just so purr-fect for my sweeties! So imagine:
A as a diehard flirt (umm…a bit of Armaan Suri here?😉)
M as a sensible, no-nonsense gal,
MandA squabbling all over Amsterdam, singing "Ladki Kyun…"
AA….ahemmm!....kissing M in front of a crowd of tourists…and getting slapped for it…😳
A watching M getting married to someone else, the realization of love vaguely dawning on him….
MandA walking through a Parisian snowfall….
A telling M,"Hum milenge to zaroor….kyunki yeh zindagi bahut lambi hai….aur hamare paas waqt bahut kum hai…"
M grabbing A's collar and threatening, "Agar tumne mera naam bachcho aur Tommy ke baad liya toh…….."
M bringing a drunken A home in the rain, as "Sanson ko sanson mein…." plays in the background……and what follows after…..<sigh>…..😉
A dashing frantically to Paris to regain his love, only to walk away disappointed…while this song (which I also think is apt for MandA's real story) haunts him:
Bolti rahi,aankhen meri,
Inko jo padhta tu agar…
Hota nahin yun bekhabar,
Hota tu mera humsafar….
Ruk ja, jo ek baar, kehta tu agar,
Tanha guzarta na apna yeh safar…..
Lamho ki guzaarish thi yeh, paas aa jaye….
Hum….hum tum….
And finally….rain in January….to mark the lovers' final reunion….
How I wish every love story had a happy ending like this!😭
SAATHIYA:
The best thing about this movie is that many from the JJKN cast are in it: Nazneen, Trishla, Billu…..even Sandhya Mridul, who played Rani's sis in the movie, did a cameo as "Yana" in JJKN.
A spying M at a wedding and flirting with her (MandA specialize in frivolous flirting😉)….
A spotting M again in a local train……
M asking A, "Mere liye train se kood sakte ho?" and A shooting back, "Haan…train rukte hi kood jaunga!"….
A searching agonisedly for his love all over the barren landscape, to the haunting strains of "Mera yaar mila de saiyaa…"
A putting his arm around M in a BEST bus and showing her their marriage certificate, which he always keeps with him……
MandA echoing their longing in "Chupke se….."
The post-marriage squabbles and the making up…..the love underneath it all……..
DIL HAI KI MAANTA NAHIN:
My oh my! One of my all-time favs and if MandA were added to it, toh sone pe suhaaga hoga!
Headstrong M jumping off her father's ship to reach the man she is infatuated with…..
A as a wisecracking reporter determined to get a good story out of the spoilt heiress….
MandA arguing all the way from Bombay to Bangalore, getting into trouble, losing all their money, outwitting the goons……
M stuffing her clothes to look pregnant, A admonishing her, "18 mahine ka lag raha hai….thoda kam karo…!"….😆
MandA forced to share a room and grumbling about it……..
MandA dancing to the classic, "Hum hain rahi pyaar ke….humse kuch na boliye…."….drawing closer and closer, and realization dawning…….😳
And the part that always has me squealing in delight—M at the mandap, pulling away from the jerk she is about to marry, with "Main tum jaise ullu ke pathe ke saath kaise shaadi kar sakti hun!"😆 and running away from her own wedding (she sure has practice!) into her A's life……..
YES BOSS:
Another queet SRK movie with gentle comedy that manages to drive home a valuable lesson—"All we want is money, all we need is love."
MandA taking a leisurely walk, as M matter-of-factly informs him that if she can't make enough money for herself, she will marry a rich man to fulfill her dreams: "Do kamzor adami ek kaamyaab zindagi nahin banaa sakte"…dashing his kindling hopes…
AA singing "main koi aisa geet gaun" as he tries to brighten her mood among Switzerland's picturesque climes….
AA trying valiantly to start his scooter, M coming back and giving him a thank you kiss, his scooter starting immediately afterwards….😆
MandA posing as husband and wife, A staring at M in awe as she gazes hesitantly in the mirror at her newly-married look….
MandA in the karva chauth scene…..
And the best: drunken M and bemused A sitting on the steps, as M murmurs, "Yeh chaand hamara kya lagta hai….waise, tum bhi mere kya lagte ho..?" and blowing into his eye, realizing with a shock that new feelings are flooding into her….❤️
HUM HAI RAAHI PYAAR KE:
MandA with a brood of shaitan kids? And no ghost to haunt them? 😈 Goody-goody!!
AA's female staff ogling their "chikna" boss…😉
M arguing with her father in fluent Tamil (she'd have to take classes!😛) and running away to a kids' fair…..
The kids sneaking her into their house…..
AA finding her dress in his room, demanding of his nephew how it came about (it was a tiny Kunal Khemu in that role!), and the child winking and asking, "That is exactly what I wanted to ask you..how did this dress arrive in your room?"😆
M barging into A's engagement, pretending to be his wife and screaming, "Yeh shaadi nahin ho sakti!" (Why on earth didn't she do that for real? 😈Oops……couldn't resist!😳)…. and when he demands why she did something so childish, sobbing out that she loves him and can't bear to see him married to anyone else…
M going dizzy with joy when A finally proclaims his love for her, kissing him all over his face…..then realizing what she did and running away to her room…..😛😛
The climax with all the good guys pelting the bad guys with eggs……and the final union…
I don't know how good this is; I just wanted some way to thank you people for your warm and supportive words last week. This is in lieu of the updates I missed out on posting because of whatever happened. 🤗
