Nandu is reciting the Hanuman Chalisa, trying his best to commit it to memory. Beauty looks sympathetically at him. "Aapko darr lag raha hai?"
Nandu: (valiantly) Nahin….aisi koi baat nahin hai…lekin risk kyun le?
Beauty: Main toh kehti hoon, batane do unhe sabko…..zyada se zyada kya hoga..?
Nandu: Zyada kuch nahin….bas uncleji mujhe ulta latkaake sau joote marenge…..Beauty, meri toh vaat lag jayegi..! Isse toh bhoot hi theek hai….
Beauty can only nod anxiously.
Nandu: (nervously) Beauty, kya sachmuch uss ped mein bhoot hai? Tumne kabhi suna hai uske baare mein…?
Beauty: Mujhe nahin pata Nandu….lekin jhaiji toh hume bachpan se uss bhoot ke kisse sunaati aa rahi hai….kabhi himmat hi nahi padi jaa ke dekhne ki…….(defiantly) par Bebe kehti hai na, yeh bhoot-voot kuch nahin hota…..aapko darne ki koi baat nahin….
Nandu thinks, "Wo Meghna khud kisi bhoot se kum hai? Pata nahin, aadhi raat ko wo kitni paagal ho jaati hai…..uske saath akele….?" He shudders and leans even further into his Hanuman Chalisa.
At the stroke of midnight, Meghna sneaks upstairs to the roof, where the men are sleeping. Nandu has drawn up his covers up to the top of his head, pretending to be fast asleep. As Meghna approaches, he gives a couple of not-so-convincing little snores. Meghna pauses for a moment, then says softly, "Lagta hai, so raha hai…"
Nandu smiles gleefully to himself. Then Meghna says, in a tone just audible enough for him, "Umm…..Puru uncle ka bed kahaan hai? Shayad wo utha sake….."
Nandu shoots up and gestures wildly to her to stop. She smiles wickedly and gestures to him to follow her. He glumly nods, following her downstairs.
They arrive at the tree. Meghna sighs contentedly, "At last!" and sits down under it. Nandu does the same, slowly, reciting the Hanuman Chalisa over and over under his breath. Meg lays out her "ammunition" to capture the ghost: a rug with mysterious symbols all over it; a tiny crystal ball; a claw-shaped pendant which she puts around her neck; and a purple cloth which she wraps around her head like a turban. Then she lights a few scented candles and switches off the torch.
Nandu: (panicking) Torch kyun off kar di? In candles se zyada roshni toh torch se aa rahi thi….
Meg: Nandu, yeh koi 24-hour fuel station nahin hai jahaan hamesha bright lights honi chahiye…..hum bhoot se milne aaye hai…..wo bhi ek old-fashioned ghost…..aur ghosts ko bright lights pasand nahin hai…aur waise bhi, scented candles se right atmosphere create hota hai…..just smell the air now!
Nandu thinks, "Haan….kya smell hai…jaise kisi ke maatam par agarbatti jalayi jaati hai…..Hanuman ji, aap hi aaj mujhe bachaa sakte ho….meri umar hi kya hai😆…..maine aaj tak koi bura kaam nahin kiya hai….main aapka achcha bachcha hoon na Hanuman ji…."
Jassi sits up restlessly in bed. She stays still for a while, trying to cal herself, but it is apparently too much for her. She slowly gets out of bed and is about to move towards the house when someone garbs her from behind. She opens her mouth to scream, but a firm hand over her mouth allows no sound to get out.
She turns and sees it is Armaan. She heaves a big sigh of relief. "Armaan!" she whispers, "tumne toh mujhe daraa hi diya tha!"
Armaan: Lekin tum itni raat ko…kahaan ja rahi thi..?
Jassi: Kitchen mein! Mujhe achaanak bahut bhookh lag rahi hai! Socha, shaayad kuch khaane ko mil jaye….
Armaan grins. "What a coincidence, Jassi….mujhe lag hi raha tha ki shaayad tumhe kuch khaane ka mann kar raha hoga! But….tum kitchen mein nahin, mere saath chalogi…"
Jassi: (eyes widening) Kahaan?
He smiles and takes firm hold of her hand. Trying to suppress their excited giggles, the two parents-to-be sneak out like a couple of children😳, across the courtyard and through the gate, in the same direction in which Nandu and Meghna have headed a few minutes ago…..😕
