For him small is beautiful
SUMIT JHA - TIMES NEWS NETWORK[ FRIDAY, MAY 20, 2005 09:13:28 PM ]

From the silver screen to the small screen, it is the long period of exposure doing tele-serials that actor Apoorva Aghinotri has enjoyed the most and today has no regrets not doing Bollywood films anymore.

"I feel good working in tele-serials, because I can showcase my skills better and that too for a prolonged period. One should give his best wherever he is working and I am doing the same as 'Armaan Sir' in Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi' after the Bollywood movie Pardes," says Apoorva.

Born and brought up in Kanpur, Apoorva Aghinotri was in town to attend the wedding of his friend Abhay. "I am feeling at home here and it's nice meeting friends and relatives after a long gap," he says.

Initially Apoorva was inclined towards flying and wanted to become a pilot but now he has taken off in a different direction. His other movies are Kasoor and Hum Ho Gaye Aap Ke. "After migrating to Mumbai I joined the Mumbai flying club and also cleared all ground tests. Meanwhile, Promi Sinha wife of Shatrughan Sinha introduced me to Subhash Ghai. He signed me for Pardes after a screen test. This proved to be a turning point in my life and I started my career as an actor," says Apoorva.

What difference does he feel between big and small screen? Says he, "Initially it was very tough working on small screen, as shooting schedules are much longer as compared to that of movies. But now I am used to the busy schedules and I thoroughly enjoy my work."

About his future plans Apoorva says, "My father Gyandev Aghinotri was a writer and I would like to follow in his footsteps one day. Moreover I want to open a film institute to groom newcomers."

Apoorva recently got married to Shilpa, Ganga of Kyuki Saas Bhi Kahi Bahu Thi. "It was Rakshandha Khan who introduced me to her and the rest as they say, is now history," he laughs. "As both of us are working on the small screen we often discuss our plans with each other. In fact we are more like friends," he signs off.

Ohh, wow! Thanks for the article, Starry! And thanks for the picture, Jots!😃

So Shilpa is the new Kkusum now, right? Won't that kind of mean that husband and wife are working in two kind of "rival" shows?
