Indian shows go to the Emmys!

If Aishwarya Rai created a ripple with her forgettable designer outfits at the Cannes film festival, Indian television's hottest women, who have been nominated as judges, will probably create giant waves at the finals of the Emmy Awards, which will be held in Los Angeles on August 27.

But, don't jump to conclusions -- unfortunately they are not travelling to LA. They will be choosing from right here which Indian serials should enter this prestigious competition.

Hosted by Anil Wanvari, founder of the Indian Telly Awards, the 20-member jury features Smriti Z Iraani, Archana Puran Singh, Anuradha Prasad, Deeya Singh and Mandira Bedi.

Archana Puran Singh says this is not her first time, "I was in the jury last year as well. I was one of the jury members responsible for judging drama shows from the West. I got a call from Los Angles and they sent me tapes of the series which I had to watch and give my feedback on."

This year, she says, it will be different. "The Emmy authorities have set up an office in India and have requested me to judge comedy shows. This is a big responsibility on my shoulders. It is very difficult to judge comedy shows. They have to be subtle, sarcastic, slapstick but not offensive and ridiculous. These will be my parameters for judging the best shows."

And which is her all time favourite comedy show over the years? "Friends," she replies. "Despite running for so long, it is still not repetitive or clichd."

Every profession have some events where they get famous and credit for their work. I am sure this event and being a judge in the event means lot to these actor and actress. I don't think they are bragging, but I think its obvious for them to get excited and happy about their being part of judging team. And as their profession needs constant media attention so their work is known to directors and producers (which will lead them to their bread and butter) i think they deserve their publicity. 👏

exactly,I as a viewer am happy and these actresses have established themselves over the years and they have all been had fame and adulation over the years

I totally agree.They have right to express thier happiness and we should atleast feel happy for them.They might not be great stars of bollywood but everyone in this world is very special in His/her own way.And i also believe we need to prove ourselves better than them if we need that is in anyway critice these television actors as they go through a lot of hard work and deserve lots of credit.Its a Totally different thing that they seem to behave like bigger stars .Its natural to seem proud of one's achievement however small it may seem compared to other Big ones.

just wondering....why has John NOT gotten oh-so excited about the international acclaim Water got??why has Big B not given 4348923847 intvws about his film with jagmohan Mundhra the director of provoked in the name of publicity or talked about hsi honorary doctorate or Mrs. B's political career??

these people need to keep their presence in the minds of the people and producers. they are marketing themselves and their talent. it is their survival instinct working...
