There is no medical insurance for ordinary people in India.They can buy some but most cannot afford.On the one hand we have some world class private hospitals like Apollo chains and Breach Kandy while free treatmemnt in Govt hospitals is just below even sub standard.

Yes, private hospitals first want cash and then only treatment.

there is medical insurance here also! me and my hubby both have it! but the difference is that either you have to avail it personally ( like me) or your office will provide it( like my hubby's). but state does not provide it for all. so,poor people obviously cannot enjoy the benefits!
