NEW DELHI, OCT 7: The first ever marketing awards, instituted by the Dainik Bhaskar newspaper and exchange4media groups, were announced here on Wednesday. Among the brands which bagged the awards included soft drink major Coca Cola, electronic goods company Philips and jewellery brand Tanishq. Coca-Cola India also bagged the marketing company of the year 2003, while McCann Erickson was declared the advertising agency of the year.

The awards covered 22 categories like lifestyle products, durables, food and beverages, services and media. Coke, Philips, Tanishq, HP Gas, Huggies and TV series Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin bagged the awards for successful marketing initiatives in their respective categories. Specialist awards for creative brand communication were also given to Coke, Oracle, Zee News and Aaj Tak. Among those who received the individual awards in media and advertising included Harit Nagpal of Hutch India as the marketing person of the year while McCann's Santosh Desai was awarded the advertising person of the year (business).

NDTV's Prannoy Roy was named as the media person of the year while McCann Erickson's Prasoon Joshi was declared advertising person of the year (creative). The marketing hall of fame award was given to late Shunu Sen.
