Moving on from blah-blah to some serious talk, I stumbled upon a rather off-beat and interesting discussion on NDTV India. The topic being - 'How important are looks for success in life'. Can a pretty woman climb up the corporate ladder faster as compared to a not so good looking woman? Interestingly, the starting point of the whole discussion was the main protagonist 'Jassi' (Mona Singh) from Sony's Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin.

It was rather strange to hear Mona Singh, who also happened to be a part of the panel, keep insisting that 'looks are not really important for success in life.' Well, considering her much-hyped makeover in the serial, that line of argument is a tad difficult to digest.

The discussion which turned into a real hot debate later only reached a climax when Prasoon Joshi representing the advertising fraternity was left quoting some beautiful Urdu poetry on womanhood and beauty.

Thanks for sharing this article.
I think that looks do have an impression. It may not be necessary for a girl to look beautiful always but it is real important for her to carry herself well so that she looks smart and confident. 😊
JJKN had some bad examples as well. I remember Jassi playing with her "chappals" near the entrance of GM, which absolutely does not suit a company's CEO 😆 😆 😆

Yeah, looks aren't important as part of presentation...that's why you need to spend a fortune on grooming, wardrobe and cosmetics...'cause there's not a billion other attractive and capable people out there competiting for the same posts... 😆

Think about it .. You have a project to finish and you have an experience plain jane with enough knowldge on the stuff you need for your project and on the other hand an amazing looking gal with zero knowldge and no idea about the work, who will you employ ????

I think more than being pretty it's important to be self-confident. One should be comfortable in one's own skin. If you have that.....then no one can ruffle your feathers. 😊
Self-confidence & self esteem are the 2 things that make other people respect you as well. There are lots of examples out there of not-so-goodlooking people having top ranking jobs, the world over. Like Oprah Winfrey, Condoleezza Rice, etc....just to name very few.
