JNDSD~My take 10th February 2017 ~ In the name of my territory!
Living organisms in nature once being formed carry within themselves a sense of being protective and defensive about their existence.All living creatures , winged, two or four legged , amphibian ,or mammals or non, have the urge to mark their own space which is their termed habitat, territory. Depending on whether they live in , groups , herds, hordes or packs their territory shields them from those foreign to their kind. Human beings live in clans, tribes, bands , and families in the social order. Where peoples of a similar kind are bound to each other by common factors of race, tribe, belief, culture , language , they may come together under the canopy of one territory. This territory gives them an identity, and an area in which they equate with others on the basis of a marked commonalities amongst each other. With humans in particular Over the centuries history shows mankind's love, obsession and possessiveness over land .. many a disputes ,battles ,wars have been and are still fought for pieces of territory .History shows lands, regions, areas being invaded by invaders with a view to occupy land and settle there . Mankind like animals contrary to finding, marking their habitat also have been in the habit of migration ,moving to pastures new. But recent times as in the past have also shown that mass movement or exodus of peoples can happen to flee from extermination , as well as an intension to expand territory and gain power. In modern day a piece of land where peoples with common and mutual intrest reside that territory is called a nation, realm or country. The populace are called citizens of that country or terrain. Today's episode is a fine episode with poignant symbols equated to a state, like three citizens Atharv , Vividha and Ravish, and a common emblem that identifies their land. Their pride, their flag .
The door that needs to be opened! the locked door symbolizes further toil needed to gain access, sheer exertion applied, as things do not come easily where understanding the value of something is concerned. Atharv does so, by kicking the door down, forcing gain. But at the Vaishno Devi temple , the request for the children's safety is sought by tears and contrite hearts of the three mothers ,through the medium of prayer to the mother goddess Durga who understands well the plight of anxious mothers. If yesterday we saw a Muslim bowing his head in submission before god. Today we see the same submission , the bowing of heads ,at the altar of the great mother goddess, by Suman, Sujata and Uma. Before deities where they are treated equally and heard.. hence no disparity now remains between the mothers ,united before Maata in the oneness of purpose! On the other side of the border, Atharv and Vividha are united in oneness of purpose to retrieve a wounded Ravish on the double.. Atharv is filled with the encouragement of both Allah and Baghwan.. as both teach freeing the captives. Plus the power of the mothers prayers invoke the blessings of Durga maa for the children..
Blood is thicker than water.. the sight of his brother Ravish's blood warms Atharv's blood and things take shape as never before.. if Ravish cannot walk due to his condition then Atharv will become his legs! Hurling Ravish's body over his shoulder is a strong indicator to Vividha that he told her to trust him ,saving Ravish was now his responsibility! and he now continues to fulfill his task ! Vividha is the ever present hope in both brothers life.. she chivvies them both! all that needs to be done now is to cross over the border... the formality of a piece of land divided by a barbed wire indicates no invaders of each nations peoples can cross over. To do so procedures are in place which have to be fulfilled to allow free passage..all illegal entries on both sides are dealt with severely.. but who would imagine getting back to one's piece of land would be far from easy, as it was to enter?
Incidents at one point can reflect elsewhere and serve as being ominous. Uma's trip at the stairs to Maata's temple echoes in Ravish s fall at the border point. He struggles to haul himself , infact he attempts to run from his loved ones! Atharv reads his behavior as symbolic of what transpired before his capture till date. For Atharv it was a moment to show brotherly bonding towards Ravish ,hence his robust attempts to diffuse Ravish s pushing both him and Vividha off! Firmly as the older brother he assures Ravish , we'll sort our issues at home !come away from the enemies side that's the territory we need to head for.. it's their safety Ravish is worried about! But Ravish renders Atharv and Vividha's sense of achievement an unexpected jolt ! barely well Ravish repeatedly mutters bomb! bomb.. bomb! Atharv takes it again in a stride, he was not a soldier trained for combat ,but nevertheless an attentive pupil of the strict and tough teacher called Life! he persists his strong hold over his captain! and tells him in a commanding tone, they live together and if needs be they will die together too! to Vividha he bellows get something to cut free the bomb from Ravish's bomb jacket... she fails.. prayers are said in desperation at the temple. Maata blesses , wills the gifts of calm and wisdom to descend upon an intrepid Atharv and at the nick of time.. his hands grabs his brothers jacket attached with the time bomb, he pulls it off purposefully! and with sheer determination , presence of mind and lord Shiva's vibrancy he hurls the deadly jacket away! well away! back to the foe's area from whence they came!!! While they duck to avoid shrapnel from the loud explosion!
Out of the blast come back their captors the trio faces a common phenomenon. The wild impulse humans have towards their designated, assigned and named territories , that they call, the land of their forefathers; the fatherland..and my favorite the motherland! All peoples in modern times as in the past equate their soil ,their land to be the mother figure who might suffer the ravages of time and destruction ,but still yields its treasures for her children to enjoy. Thus for the motherland people see themselves as sons and daughters of their land. Bear tremendously loyalty to their land, they see their roots buried in it. They see the future of their children on the distant horizon of their land. It's this inherent desire to survive their way of life ,that makes people both defend their territory and fight if needs be to maintain it as long as time goes..
All is clear now the foe is the bad loser.. for the captain has escaped from their captivity. The leader saves his face before his small group of fellow terrorists. As losers do, he scoffs and mocks Vividha and Atharv s role play of passing off as Muslims .. he boosts knew they had entered their territory .. they allowed their drama , lulled them into a false sense of security deliberately .. on the other hand outsmarted them by giving captain a potion which seized their captains throat so that he would be unable to tell them, they fixed a time bomb on the captains back . How the leader mocked, one of their men was awake when they went in to retrieve the captain.. it was their smart plan! not Atharv and Vividha's. The foe jeers,they wanted the bomb to set off in the army cantonment area so that damage is caused there too...pity they thought they were fooling them. But the two imposters, did exactly what the leader wanted. But now that Atharv and Vividha have foiled their plans, if if not their army than certainly they will be destroyed right now!
Now or never! within Atharv the righteous anger rises from the pit of his gut and changes into an angered spirit that unleashes upon the enemy through the medium of his lethal extremities! Violent resistance is put up by Atharv s fiery righteousness against this warped evil that comes from no boundaries, no faith in fact no sentiments just products of a withered mind..
While Atharv and Ravish beat the daylights off the terrorists! Vividha's passive lethal glare of disgust off the captors, invites her to be their target .. defile the vulnerable woman!!! I see her as a symbol of her country India the homeland.. history shows that all long the centuries ,invaders have plundered ,looted, burned ,defiled territories belonging to others. India too has had her fair share of marauding invaders. Many came by force or as a result of the requirement of the times.. many became a part of India and both embraced and gifted positive input..like the Moghul kings.. but many came to loot her wealth and to give boost to their own colonial supremacy like the British Raj... Many came and robbed her off her ancient glory.. still India manages to keep its identity as part of the global community.
The lewd and scathing remarks Vividha suffers are the traumas nations have to undergo to fight for their independence and after receiving it often continue to fight threats to maintain that sovereignty.The enemy taunts Atharv about his role play of being a Muslim..dismisses him by saying a Muslim is identified through his eyes, religion reflects through his eyes. Atharv sets him right keeping in mind the leaders unholy demand of asking Vividha to undress .. if she wants to save her flag from being burnt! Atharv retorts that a Muslim from where he ,comes can be identified by the use of polite words, the language of love as opposed to hate. A Muslim from his country spreads flowers at the shrine at Ajmer and with the same tolerant reverence he also bows his forehead at the Maata's temple..there is no disparity in both devotions.. The unexplained devotional love for one's country..Prove how much Vividha loves her country ..your clothe off or your the flag burns! vividha despite Atharv's yells, the country does not want such a sacrifice!! decides.. for the largeness of her country.. derobing her decency is but a small sacrifice. Her glove comes off.. the hands, act for the glory of her motherland, her people! Her patriotism , overpowers her dignity, for what greater shame can it be for her, if she maintains her personal grace, and disgraces her land before a bunch of cowards who represent nothing except, destruction! Vividha keeps the flag , flying high as one by one she takes off her pieces of jewelry..all so she can still bear the adornment , of her very existence, her identity, flying high!!
An episode, which has universal appeal.. for it celebrates nationalism.. that devotion that citizens feel for their land, their roots! A strong sense of honor and respect for the land where they came from and where they reside.. far or near the love for one's motherland remains both in times of war and peace...vividha epitomizes the stoic will of the state to survive and maintain it's independence ! and Atharv and Ravish are the strong presence of good will which defend Vividha to uphold her peaceful way of existence!..hamlet53 11.2.17
