The character of Dev will be a quiet, reserved person who has totally engrossed himself in his work. He is an extremely well read person and is very articulate. So adept he is at putting his points across that there is seldom, if ever, any space left for arguments with him. But despite all these traits, he won't be able to argue with Roshni!. For him his family is of utmost importance and he completely adores his younger sister and showers her with gifts every now and then as he strongly believes that his sister deserves the best. Despite being a successful businessman, a benevolent philanthropist, Dev keeps a low profile as much as possible. Dev's reticent persona will be in contrast with Sid's flamboyant personality. Oblivious to the background of Sid-Roshni's tumultuous relationship, slowly and steadily he will start developing feelings for Roshni without realizing that destiny has some other plans for him!

Speaking of his role, Indraneil says "After doing an interesting mix of work in films, I was looking forward to something more challenging as an actor. It's been a while since I've done an author-backed role on television, so when I was offered the layered character of Dev Sengupta, I readily agreed to do it. My character Dev is a man of few words and does not wear his heart on his sleeves like Sid does but at the same time, the restraint and intensity in his personality sets him apart. Apart from my interesting role, the other reason I said yes was the popularity of Jamai Raja as this show has been a trendsetter in many ways. Of late, I have been very choosy and particular about picking my projects. I take things up only after a lot of analysis as I prefer well-written characters that allow you to explore more as an artiste. Till now, viewers have seen the bitter-sweet love story of Sid-Roshni but now post leap with my entry, season 2 of the show will explore new relationships and their changing dynamics. I am extremely excited about my role as capturing the subtleties of Dev is pretty challenging"

On being asked how will he juggle his films and work on television, the charming actor says with a smile," Currently I am shooting for a film and simultaneously shooting for Jamai Raja and if the characters are appealing enough I will try my best to manage both with ease."
