When DD told Sid to never show his face again to her family ever again. He promised that he would not show his ever again, never. If Sid does get into the accident then that would show he also kept his promise to DD. We know he won't die or something might get slightly injured. But it could be another attempt of him moving out of everyone else's life. In his situation I know I'd want to die. I could not live with myself after everything that happened.

Well anyone in his place would want to commit suicide.. he is just too helpless to do anything.. i really think that this suicide attempt will make Simran blurt out in front of Raj.. and Roshni will get a clue that he still loves her and there is definitely a reason behind his act..
