Yeah, I did notice that after the edits were made to the initial post, there was a shift in focus towards health concerns regarding use of creatine supplements π
But hey, my post was simply to negate the notion that some form of cheating was being done by Ronit Sir, and that creatine was an anabolic steroid. At the end of the day, I-F has been good to me and so I just didn't want any of the members being mislead by things that were untrue π Of course, now that a whole series of edits have been made, it's all good ππΌ
I did also notice that the post above this had a part where it said that whilst one of the three deaths had no connection to creatine, creatine killed the other two - but then it was wisely editted out π Of course, that was also untrue (the article does not attempt to show any such proof) and so it's good that it's gone. Similarly, the untrue stuff in the first post needed to go (and it has)... and that's why I posted. π
Forget aspiring body builders, I was thinking more relevent to this particular forum - I didn't want anyone reading this topic to be mislead into thinking that cheating or unfair stuff was going on π
I'm also glad that edits were made to the end of the initial post that suggested that wrestlers and olympic athletes were banned for creatine usage - the fact remains that no athletes have been banned from any sports for using creatine supplements π They can only be banned for using illegal substances - which creatine is not. π
As for the case of those 3 that died - the way they used supplements killed them. They took creatine (which is used for weight gain) whilst at the same time they were working their guts off to lose weight. They were trying move in two opposite directions at the same time... and so it was how they used the supplements that caused the death... and even that is not confirmed to be the cause of death. It's speculation at most!
Keeping that in mind, reading that article is fine... but to use it to form the basis of any decision isn't something I'd personally recommend π
Things that are dangerous, they get branded as illegal really quickly. All health, government, and sporting authorities would crack down on them and slap on a ban. No international sports federations or international olympic committe have put any such ban on creatine. I have to trust that they know better than most of us here. So, case and point made - there is nothing to prove that creatine is unsafe if usage is correct!
Barry Bonds was using HGH (Human Growth Hormones) - and those are anabolic steroids. Comparing that to creatine use is kinda funny π One is illegal and one is legal π
I'm sorry to say but I don't agree with the implication that all coaches and trainers don't know about what is and isn't safe. In fact, in a lot of cases, they know more about them than doctors due to supplements being closer to their line of work than for doctors. People don't become caoches and trainers by walking into a gym and wearing a coaches shirt. If they recommend something that is dangerous, then they'd get sued to death. Some experienced trainers do have more knowledge, some don't. In the cases of celeb trainers, I'm sure that over 95% of them have their clients taking supplements - but I'm sure that they are not trying to kill them π
As for body building forums, I would strongly recommend checking them out as well. Unlike over here where people are primerily here to talk about a dance show, over on those forums, the primery focus there is good health - many are medical proffesionals who offer advice and post medical facts (not mere speculation). Over there, things like creatine use are discussed as opposed to promoted. Whatever the case, anyone considering taking supplements will find more helpful advice and facts than over here on the YHJ forum π
On a final note about creatine (and any nuitricional supplement), they always have it written on the packaging that a doctor or physician should be consulted before starting on them. That's what everyone is supposed to do. If anyone doesn't do that and decides to use them in without the proper advice and information, then bad things are likely to happen π³
God bless.
