Chapter 5

Ragini and Nachiket were sitting on the beach

N - why haven't you married as yet?

R - i am not the hot and happening party girl. Noone ever asked me out on a date. So never fell in love. All the rishtas didn't work. They wanted me to quit my career or stop caring for maa. One even asked for dowry.

N - dowry? Are you serious.

R - that was last year. He said i was too old - 29. That i wasn't really pretty either. Mom asked him to get out. What about you?

N - broke up 10 days ago with someone who wanted me to leave dadaji

R - he is so sweet. I am on a date for the first time because of him. Even though its not really a date

N - do you want to give this marriage a shot

Ragini looked surprised

N - we have to marry someone. Why not each other?

R - how will it work? Your lifestyle differs from mine. Whats common?

N - we both love and respect our elders. We love our jobs

R - thats a start. But is it enough for marriage?

N - i hope so. Because i really want to settle down

R - with me?

N - anyone who loves me and dadaji

R - i do love dadaji

N - thats a start. So what say?

R - dadaji and maa would never do anything bad for us

N - lets make this a date then

R - how?

N - kulfi?

R - chalo.

They finished eating kulfi and were walking on the beach when Nachiket playfully threw some water on her. Soon both were a little wet and were walking back to the car.

Raginis clothes were wet and some boys were staring at her. Nachiket took his coat and made her wear it.

Ragini noticed some women gawking at Nachiket. She went and held his arm. Both felt very content with their gestures.

They went to a restaurant for dinner and then sat in the car talking.

N - reached your home its almost 10pm. Hope you had a nice first date

R - yes. Thanks for today.

N - you know how a perfect date ends?

R - no

Nachiket bent forward and pecked her on her lips. Raginis eyes just closed to fell the moment. Nachiket held on to her chin.

N - you have beautiful lips. Do you mind if i deepen the kiss?

Ragini smiled and brought her lips forward. Her eyes still shut. Nachiket began nibbling her lips. She held onto him for support. Soon enough he was kissing her deeply with his hands in her hair. They stopped after a while.

R - i need to go home.

N - go. I will see you soon. Goodnight!

Ragini ran home with a deep blush on her face.

The wedding schedule was ready. Friday mehendi and saturday sangeet. Sunday pheras and reception. Contract would be signed after the pheras.

D - bete one last task

N - ab kya dadaji?

D - tomorrow you take Ragini for movie and dinner.

N - doable

D - good. Then till the sangeet you cant meet Ragini. Phone calls are fine

N - no problem

Nachiket went to his room. He smiled at how the day had changed his life. Ragini was in bed thinking about the same.

Chapter 6

The next day Nachiket called Ragini at work

N - hi

R - hi

N - what time do you finish today?

R - late. I have two c-sections lined up. Will be done by 9.30pm

N - thats late

R - i have to take a weeks leave as per moms orders from tomorrow. I resume work next tuesday.

N - dadaji asked me to stay home as well for a week. Anyways good luck with the surgeries.

R - thanks

Nachiket returned home by 6pm.

D - you didn't complete your task

N - she is busy till late. Has leave from tomorrow. We will go then

D - thats not allowed. No meeting till the sangeet

N - are you going to dictate rules throughout the six months?

D - just for the next one week

N - good.

Ragini left from work around 10pm to find Nachiket standing outside the hospital

R - you are here?

N - since 9.30. Get into the car. Its late

He told Ragini all about the task.

N - atleast i can drop you home

R - lets complete your task.

N - how?

R - lets go get some pizza and coke for dinner. We can eat in the car and watch a short film on your phone

N - are you serious

R - i want you to complete the task

They had a fun time eating pizza and watch a short romantic movie. Nachiket dropped Ragini home a little before midnight

N - so see you on saturday. Only phones till then

R - we can skype as well

N - good idea. Lunch date on Skype.

R - sure goodnight

Nachiket returned home and told dadaji about the evening. Dadaji was happy about the effort made by both. The next few days were busy with wedding preparations. But both made time to talk. At night they spoke till late.

N - you have any rules you want me to follow after the wedding

R - not really

N - about intimacy?

R - i get its important for a relationship to work but we can be intimate after we are bit more sure about US

N - no kids during this contract period. I dont want a child to suffer if we break up

R - agreed. Also i would like maa to visit us more often

N - sure. We can stay with her few days of the week. And sometimes she can come over. Later in life she should move in with us. That is if we are still together.

R - thanks for that. I am so relieved now. i am sleepy. Lets talk tomorrow

N - Ragini there is something else.

R - what?

N - i want to meet you for a bit. Can you come down?

R - now?

N - i am under your building

R - ok. Give me 10 minutes

Ragini ran out.

R - maa there is an emergency delivery. I have to go

M - its 11pm. Be safe beta

R - Dr. Komal is picking me up. Don't stay up late. I will be late will call and inform

Ragini ran down and sat in the car

R - what did you tell dadaji

N - what you told maa

R - emergency?

N - yes. Lets go. I need a break from the wedding preps

R - where are we going?

N - i don't know. Lets just drive around

They went for a long drive and ate at a dhaba. They discussed a lot of random things. But Ragini got a call for an actual emergency. They rushed to the hospital. Ragini was to be in surgery till 3am. She messaged maa. Nachiket waited in her office. She came back happy

R - such a beautiful baby boy

N - congrats. Your an amazing doctor

R - i am so tired. My back hurts.

Nachiket went behind her and began massaging her shoulder and back. Ragini found it relaxing. She then felt his pace lessen. His touch was getting more sensual. Ragini got conscious but didn't stop him. She was liking it. After a few minutes he hugged her from the back.

N - feel better?

R - yes

N - lets go home

Nachiket turned to leave but Ragini pulled and hugged him. Nachiket smiled. He held her face

N - i honestly feel a lot of positive vibes and attraction for you. I hope we fall in love soon and make this marriage work

R - me too. Can you kiss me?

N - are you sure

R - yes

N - i would love to

They kissed softly and hugged again

R - is this a good sign?

N - the attraction before the wedding

R - yes.

N - lets check.

Nachiket pulled Ragini on his lap on the sofa. They made out for a long time. Nachikets coat and Raginis dupatta were on the floor.

N - i might already be falling for you.

R - i don't know about me yet

N - lets take it one day at a time and do as our hearts desire

R - you want to stay or go?

N - stay till morning here. I am on a break remember

R - so be it

Chapter 7

They slept in each others arms all night. In the morning Ragini felt very awkward. Nachiket sensed her odd behaviour

N - lets take it a little slow if your feeling conscious

R - its not that. I am worried about us not working out. Then what will i do

N - lets not worry about that now

R - what do you like about me that makes me good enough to be your wife?

N - everything.

R - you sure

N - yes. Unless you have a hidden psycho side to you

R - i do

N - what?

R - i am super cranky during my period

N - i get stressed when dadaji falls sick. I cant handle myself. We just have to look after each other

R - yeah. Lets go. Maa will wake up soon

Nachiket dropped Ragini home. The next day was the mehendi. Ragini actually felt like a bride now. She didn't get to speak to Nachiket all day. He was also getting impatient. The sangeet was in a hotel. Nachiket reached early and looked around for Ragini. When she arrived he didnt leave her side.

N - you look gorgeous in this outfit.

R - thanks

N - by the way Pam is reaching tomorrow morning. She had other commitments

R - ok. Does she approve of me?

N - honestly no. But i don't care

Nachiket pulled Ragini for a dance. Dadaji and maa were very happy to see things falling in place.

Chapter 8

It was the day of the wedding. Pam had still not arrived. Her flight was delayed due to bad weather. She would land only on Monday night.

Nachiket was waiting for Ragini in the mandap. When he saw her he didn't stop staring for even a second. The wedding ceremony was beautiful and intimate. Ragini was wearing an extremely heavy outfit. Nachiket helped her with it constantly

R - i cant wait to get back home and get rid of this outfit

N - i can help with that

Ragini felt shy and looked away. There wedding was complete. The reception was also a small affair but all the guests had a nice time. It was time for Raginis bidai. Nachiket promised maa that he would take care of Ragini. They reached home and dadaji called them to the living room

D - these are the contract papers. Read and sign them

Ragini and Nachiket both hesitated. Dadaji picked up the paper and asked Ragini to sign

N - dadaji let this be for today.

D - no. Do it now. We need to file it with the lawyer tomorrow. I don't want a lenghty divorce battle in court after 6 months

Ragini had tears in her eyes. Considering a possible divorce 6 months from now scared her but she signed the papers. Nachiket was next.

D -you both didn't read it

N - we trust you

D - now you both go. See you in the morning.

Ragini and Nachiket went up to their room. Nachiket went to change. When he came out he saw Ragini had dozed off to sleep as she sat on the bed. He smiled and laid her on the bed. He removed all the heavy jewelry and her dupatta. She was in such deep sleep she didn't realise. He pulled the covers over them.

N - some first night. My bride is snoring

Ragini turned in her sleep and cuddled Nachiket. He pulled her close and they fell asleep.

N - atleast some consolation. I get to cuddle this sleeping beauty.

Next morning ragini got up at 10am to an empty room. She realised she slept through her first night. She wondered what Nachiket would think about her. She changed and came down. Dadaji was alone at home

D - goodmorning beta

R - goodmorning dadaji. Where is Nachiket?

D - he is gone to pick Pam. She got an earlier flight and will land by noon. Go have some breakfast and ask the sevants to make lunch that you like. Also today you need to make a sweet dish.

R - ok dadaji.

Ragini was cooking when she got a call from nachiket

N - your up?

R - yes. making halwa

N - i will be back by 1pm. See you. Bye

R - bye

When Pam came home she was visibly cold towards Ragini. They ate lunch and everyone retired to their rooms

N - you fell asleep last night?

R - sorry. I was tired

N - ragini its fine. You needed the sleep. I will sleep now. Back to work tomorrow. 6 am shift

R- me 9am

N - rest then. We have all our life to spend time together
