She had always been his biggest cheerleader. And so, it was a great occasion for her when Nachiket told her about his first invitation as a keynote speaker at a cardiology conference that was being held at the beautiful Udaivilas Palace in Rajasthan. She put her arms around him and squealed with joy. He pulled her to himself and swung her around - their joy knowing no bounds.
Just last month, Ragini had completed her degree in hospital administration and was giving interviews at different hospitals for joining the management team (Nachiket secretly pushed her case at the hospital he worked in - and this made his resolve of owning a hospital in the future even stronger - just the thought of them working together, for one cause, always)
'I can't believe this', she breathed as she planted a wet kiss on his cheek, her lipstick prominently staying on his skin and her not bothering with it one bit. She liked to see that on him and his reaction when the mirror reminded him of wiping it off.
'Everything's falling into place, baby', he breathed back.. almost panting because of all the excitement. They could not wait for this stage of their professional lives to kick off.
'When are you leaving?', she asked him, her hands moving over his arms.. eyes beaming at him..
'We leave this Saturday', he said nonchalantly and moved to the cupboard in order to get the big suitcase down. She didn't understand why he needed that big a suitcase for a weekend trip but then his words struck her.
'We?'
And before she could say anything further, he swooped her in his arms and gave her a kiss that left her breathless.
'Yes, we.'
She hugged him tight, wishing they could leave right away.
Saturday
The flight was smooth and cozy as Ragini spent most of the time snuggled into Nachiket's chest with his coat around her. The temperature in the flight was a little low for her. As soon as they landed, she woke up with a jolt, her hair slightly tousled.
He grabbed a handful of her hair and tugged it back gently to massage her scalp as she reoriented herself.
'You know what, Ragini? My keynote speech is tomorrow afternoon. I can sleep late.. and now that you've already finished some of your sleep quota.. '
Ragini's eyes flew open at his husky words, shushing him with his finger instantly.
'I do not intend to distract you, Mr.Khanna. What we came here for is very important'
'Tomorrow night then. I intend to make full use of a glorious Sunday night.'
She hit him on the chest mockingly..
'Nachiket! You're such a ... '
'What?'
'Nothing.. '
'Tell me.. come on.. '
'sexy beast', she hissed and quickly nipped at his ear.
'Ow! You are not helping this case, my gorgeous wife.'
'Shut up you!'
And they sat there on their seats all lost in each other till almost all the passengers on the plane had filed out on the aerobridge. Yawning and stretching, she gestured at him to pull her up, like she was a child. He bent down to hug her and pull her up (garnering an aww from the air-hostess who was just walking past them and a kiss on the nose from Ragini who had found some brand new confidence now that she was convinced no one knew her)
Bags in hand, they sat comfortably in the car sent by the hotel and Ragini teased him this time by arching her neck just a little more as she wiped it with the wet towels given to them. Her sighs of relief from the sticky heat outside were quickly turning into soft gasps and Nachiket just stared. Knowing very well that the driver was busy talking with the steward who had come to accompany them back to the hotel, she pulled her shirt down just a little and wiped her body dangerously close to her cleavage before flinging the towel on to his lap.
Nachiket grabbed the towel and flung it aside.. his urge tipping over to uncontrollable as Ragini now rolled her sleeves and tied the lower end of her shirt in a knot that was now sitting pretty on her navel.
Suddenly, even the cold blast of the AC was not enough for Nachiket and he could not wait to be at the hotel.
