I just got around to watching the episode and I must say, I'm experiencing mixed feelings about the episode.
-Beginning with Aarav, I absolutely loathed the way he blamed his mother, absolutely no shame and patent ungratefulness. While I was aware of his drunken state, I could not even remotely feel any sympathy for his character. The way he called his mother by her name "Ragini Patel," was beyond disrespectful and then the consistent baseless accusations were disgusting and pathetic. He accused his mom of "brainwashing his dad," and "snatching his dad away from him," and that too all in public, repeatedly stating that his mother ruined his life and made him a criminal. I swear, both father and son have made it a ritual to badmouth and disrespect Ragini in public. As if that wasn't humiliating enough for Ragini, he declares how his choice of profession is now unattainable due to her and how she is the worst mother of all (like you're the perfect son). Infuriatingly, the perspective from which I view Aarav has dramatically changed, practically he has spent a year in jail left alone to cope with his depression and guilt of Shilpa's death yet this has made him a teen bitter and in fierce denial. I personally believe that Aarav just cannot face the fact that he was responsible for Shilpa's death, that his own downfall was due to his own actions and his father's. He doesn't want to remember that he was the one who had the gun, who was going to pull the trigger; that the father who he had put his trust in had failed him and did little to help him. I still vaguely recall how when he was on the brink of suicide, he had confessed to his mom that she was an ideal mother and that it was he who had failed in his responsibilities as a son. He told her that she was very kind yet she could not save him. I don't know whether this theory is the actual truth or just assumptions on my part yet I am beginning to find Aarav as a convoluted character, a character who cannot handle reality. I wish the show would provide more introspections for his character so the audience can see past his ungrateful, baseless, and violent behavior.
-I did not like when Neil pushed Ragini to the side when he was handling Aarav; Ragini was tugging at his sleeve to prevent him from beating Aarav yet Neil was not taking her concerns into consideration. While I felt that it was a well-deserved punishment that Aarav was long overdue for, I expected a bit more depth. I find it odd how suddenly Neil cannot hear a word against Ragini, don't get me wrong but I feel that there is a huge gap between Neil's sudden respect for Ragini as to his prior behavior towards her. In all honesty, when Neil was consoling Ragini on Aarav's matter, I felt that it was kind of hypocritical when he told her that it wasn't her fault ...because he was the one who had conveyed to Aarav that and I quote (in english), "somewhere it was your mother's fault that you were in jail." How can he change sides so easily? Does he sincerely believe what he is saying?
I personally expected a huge introspection or some realization, a concrete event that would cause Neil to realize his mistakes in Aarav's scenario. I was expecting a minimum two minute apology from him to Ragini for that unnecessary public humiliation where he called her "pagal aurat."
I'm sorry guys but it makes absolutely no sense to me how he suddenly began to respect her. Even on Thursday's episode, he was taunting her in front of Ranbir and the doctors yet now in front of aarav and society members he will not hear a word against her. Wasn't he the one going around stating that it was Ragini's fault aarav was behind bars?
While I am happy that he stood up for Ragini against aarav and Nivedita, I want to know what had caused this change. Will he accept his mistakes in Aarav's case or will the creative skip past this topic as if it of no concern. This track has to flow smoothly. While the Neira scenes were appreciated and a delight to watch, I expected a bit more, something that would trigger this realization from him.
I don't wish to dampen the mood but I just couldn't comprehend his concern for Ragini today. Nor could I comprehend Aarav's baseless accusations. The flow was so disruptive and lacking in basic plot. I mean the clueless hero suddenly realizes what is happening with his wife is wrong and unjust. What?!
-The only parts I liked was Aagham coming in front onf his mom to almost shield her from Aarav, I found that adorable. Then the children's (especially Ranbir's) bonding with badi nani was delightful to watch, the way badi naani called Ranbir "cute," and Ranbir just laughed with his head in his hands. The later confrontation between Nishi and Ranbir where Nishi finally takes her mom's side and fights on her behalf saying she doesn't know what is Ranbir and Aarav's problem, I found that part to be vital. Then while it didn't make sense to me, I personally could not help myself from enjoying the Neira scenes when Neil consoles Ragini. Especially the way he pats her lap and feeds her, I found that absolutely beautiful and gorgeous. If only this had fit into a realistic chronological order I would've enjoyed it more.
Don't get me started on Nivedita...I have absolutely no idea what they did to her. I was betting on the idea that maybe Nivedita had an ulterior motive (hidden property, etc) which was why she wanted marry Neil. Something that related to Suhani or some inheritance that she could not obtain without legally being Suhani's guardian. I had no idea that they were going to make Nivedita actually a psychotic dysfunctional mess. I was flabbergasted at that scene, when she wrote Neil's name on the mirror and then her desperate proximity with the name as if her life depended on it- I just sat there completely confused. I expected Nivedita to be a clever character with insight on her family secrets and inheritance, but they reduced her potential to a Neil obsessed psychotic woman.Originally posted by: neiralove
Azka, I totally agree with you. But I think you would be expecting too much in asking for the introspection scenes. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see those too, but I don't think the creatives would know what to do with them. There just hasn't been enough thought in the characters and their development.
I remember that scene with Aarav too, how he said that he was going to prove himself in his mother's eyes and make something of himself (while along the right path) when he gets out of jail. I have no clue what part of jail killed that Aarav, but honestly I think it's just a gimmick to add another problem to Nachiket and Ragini's lives.
And as for Nachiket, yes, the part where he pushed her away got on my nerves too. I get that he's distracted by Aarav, but still, you were JUST fighting for this woman and now you throw her to the side?! But I feel like that was poor direction more than anything; even the creatives aren't stupid enough to mess with Nachiket and Ragini's "love" story at this point.
I know it feels like I'm blaming everything on the makers of this show, but honestly, they really are unable to handle a mature love story. This show is full of bipolar characters, stupid side love tracks, and now a psychotic vamp.
The only saving grace we have are RR and PK. I am trying so hard to watch only for them and not for the story (which is hard for me, because I usually watch a show for the story). Just take the little moments, like Aagham defending his mother and Nachiket feeding Ragini and ignore the rest. It's the best we can do. 😊
I can only hope so yet it is the writers job to portray this in the show, through some understanding. Neil's behavior has been fluctuating far too greatly, the setup they were tying to establish for future scenes does not fit well at all, they need to elaborate and explain this sudden change. This leaves so many questions unanswered, whether neil realizes his mistakes in Aarav's case or whether he regrets the public humiliation, something has to be given. I mean are they planning to build all of this up till Nivedita is exposed and then have him realize that Ragini was innocent in his public defamation and have him give a huge apology then. Really? They will fix the mess now but have him apologize later all so they can keep the Fls, is that seriously what they're planning?!Azka the turn around in nachiket is because now ragini is his he has calmed down the thought of his love belonging to someone made him insane
