So, on this particular Sunday, he was more than happy to know that Ragini had planned a picnic for the entire family to just go and enjoy themselves and basically - relax. It was a beautiful day and she woke up early as she always did, to overlook the food being prepared which they would take with them for the picnic and she was not by his side when Nachiket woke up.. he was going to call out to her when he decided against it, knowing that she MUST be busy at this moment and would come back soon..
Getting up, he freshened up and as soon as he was done, he felt a surge of pain in his throat..the moment he tried to open his mouth, the pain just increased. He did not know what was happening and panicked.. Ragini, who entered the room at just that time, could make out from his facial expressions that he was in pain and rushed to him, keeping the steaming cup of coffee on the table. Nachiket was feeling his neck/throat, trying to figure out what was happening to him.. his eyes were closed.. suddenly he felt more fingers within his clasp, on his throat.. they belonged to her..
She gently groped the skin below his jaw and behind his ear, feeling his tonsils and much contrary to the effect she would have wanted, she was taking Nachiket into unknown territory with such a touch. He groaned audibly as she moved her finger along the length of his throat trying to feel for some lumps. He tried opening his mouth to speak but she put a finger on his lips.. he looked at her, surprised.. and quirked his eyebrows as if asking her what happened. She held him by the arm and walked over with him towards the bed, instructing him to sit down facing the window. As Nachiket sat down, she told him to slowly try and open his mouth.. as he did, Ragini took a good look at his throat as he held his tongue out.. grabbing him near his ears gently, again, she slowly massaged and felt his tonsils and sighed as she realized that he was having a horrible throat infection. When he had as much as moved, she pushed him back gently on to the bed so that he rested against the headboard and she had propped him comfortably against the pillow.. taking the cup of coffee, she held it out to him and asked him to have it before it goes cold because the hot fluid will make him feel better and explains to him that he is suffering from a nasty throat infection. Nachiket groaned again but accepted the cup of coffee gratefully..
Ragini looked at him and as soon as she told him that he was not well, the shine and sparkle in his eyes went missing. She knew how he hated to fall ill/sick, how he prided upon the fact that he lead such a healthy lifestyle. She sighed, and agreed with herself that this time, both of them could see it coming.. the amount of strain he was putting himself too was not just affecting him mentally but had also found a physical vent which had now made him ill. She could feel his pain and discomfort and sighed again, as she had thought that this Sunday would be totally rejuvenating for him and her, for them.
As he held the cup of coffee near his mouth, the pain in the throat bothered him too much. With a lot of effort, he swallowed some of the coffee and he was grateful she insisted on him having it because that sensation of relief when the hot coffee went down his throat was just what he needed.. such sweet relief he thought to himself.. standing besides him, Ragini grabbed his free hand and clasped it, looking at him all the time and feeling his pain and when he opened his eyes after the first sip, she tells him she will back with some haldi ka doodh because it's the best remedy for throat infections. Nachiket smiled at her weakly. Ragini's heart brimmed with love for him and she bent over placing a kiss on his forehead and just when she was about to kiss him on the lips tenderly, he moved away.. gesturing that he did not want to transfer the throat infection.. Ragini was taken by that gesture and just whispered in his ears that she loved him a lot before going out of the room, promising she'd return in a minute.. as she left, Nachiket sighed and thanked God for the wonder that was his wife, his lover.. his Ragini..
