The wedding preparations were in full swing owing to the speed at which Nachiket wanted to be married and Ragini's parents and grandma were literally swept off their feet along with Ragini! Neil's mother was still unhappy with her son getting married to a middle class girl and could not bear to be civil to her or her family. Her husband demanded that she put up a good front for the sake of their son. He was neutral about his son's choice, just happy to see him married.

Pam was an entirely different issue. She was disgusted by Neil's choice. Her adored brother getting married to a Gujrati, that too with such poor dress sense- wearing those garish colors. How could she face her friends with such a person being called her bhabhi- the very thought was revolting.

"Come on, Pam- cheer up!"

"Not in your life, Neil- how could you? How could you dump a girl like Ragini on us? She is so dumb. so, so, ugh- how could you do this to us, to YOU? I thought you had better taste than this specimen."

"Alright, enough of that. Learn to hold your tongue or you will have no place in my life."

"Neil. This is just not fair. Alright, I shall keep my opinions to myself but don't think I have changed them!"

"Fine- keep them in your head- don't you dare say them out aloud any more. I want you to be nice to Ragini. If you think she needs to update her style, go on, you are a teen- you can pick a dress or two for her- she will not refuse- she is very sweet! Make it as a friendship gesture and get to know her. She is very loving and has a beautiful personality."

***
The grihapravesh happened. Not only did Ragini succeed in scattering the rice all over the floor, Neil grabbed her up in his arms and carried her over the threshold, stunning everyone present.

The bed chamber for the first night ceremony was beautifully decorated by a professional. Ragini barely noticed any of it. She was suddenly hit by the immensity of the moment- she was married, and she was far from finishing up with her career plans and educational ones, but she didn't regret any of it for a moment. Her eyes were simply drinking up every shifting movement of Nachiket. She pinched herself and wondered how this came to be- an ordinary girl like her with a less-than-ordinary-background, with absolutely no flirting skills, let alone interest in having a boyfriend, ending up with a hunk like him for a husband!

The "hunk" came closer and pulled her tightly into his arms. He ripped away all the flowers and festoons shrouding the bed and placed his blushing bride delicately over the coverlet. He slowly removed all her jewelry- "could never understand why you women wear so much of this metal junk- you look good just as you are with nothing on."

Ragini was getting shyer by the moment and could barely lift her eyes to look at him. Her skin was on high alert with goosebumps all over. He continued to divest her and shake her tresses loose. Her silky hair came tumbling down covering her shoulders and parts of her face. Some of it tangled with Nachiket's arms as his hand tugged at a lock or two to lock her into position, tightly against him. He smiled at his innocent bride, gave her some time to adjust to him, dimmed the lights and nibbled his way through every inch of her as she softly responded with delicate sighs and whispers.

That night, their first night of love, Nishi was conceived, her name, as dark as the night, Nisha.

Well, she is a teen, in my FF and as I work with them, they certainly behave like a pill at times and are the sweetest of creatures otherwise.

Well, Neil didn't have a "say" in it- it just happened. Today, I met a student at school, 15 year old and pregnant- teen pregnancy numbers have come down, but once in a while, it just "happens".

I know, I know 😆

It is sweet actually, but I do worry about the fact that they are both so young.

Nevertheless, it was a nice update. Am sure N's Mom is going to give grief to S

Welcome Vidya- thanks for sharing your comment: nope- please read my FF from the first part- in the 1st part, Ranveer's story unfurls. He is not "their" child. He is, according to my timeline, about 6-7 months old when Neira get married. By the time, Nishi comes along, he will be a 15-16 month toddler.

Part 5:
Mom and Dad Khanna decided to leave on a vacation to Europe, leaving the newlyweds behind. Pam joined them. Neil and Ragini got into a routine with work and home and Ragini continued to spend an hour or so each day with a now-bouncy Ranveer who was shifted to the regular nursery from the NICU. Medically, he was found to be in good health and no untoward mental conditions were detected, given the sad end of his birth-mother.

The hospital was working with a non-profit to get Ranveer moved out of the hospital and be sent for possible adoption. Ragini rushed to Neil and demanded that he intervened in some way and not allow anyone to take Ranveer away from her. After much paperwork and fortunately, now that they were married, they were allowed to adopt Ranveer in record time.

It was then, during those weeks that Ragini realized that she was also going to have a baby. On the other hand, Neil's documents were ready to leave for the US. In all the excitement of the adoption and the pregnancy, Ragini and Nachiket had forgotten all about applying for a passport for Ragini.

Even after getting the passport, her dependant visa application was rejected by the US consulate. Ranveer's adoption demanded that the parent(s) were available to the social worker and the court until another 6 months.

Hence, after all that hurry of getting married, Nachiket had to leave his precious wife behind and leave for the US alone. He called back his parents and sister to return from their extended tour and take care of their bahu.

Mr. Khanna was delighted with the prospect of becoming a grand father but Mrs. Khanna didn't want to be called a grand mother yet. She was disgusted with Ragini for getting pregnant so soon- breeding like pigs! Have you no self respect?

Ragini just wanted to sink into the ground and vanish. She spent more time with her parents and at the hospital and less time with her in laws. Pam kept feeding Neil about how irresponsible Ragini was. Ragini cried out her heart to Nachiket when he called and spoke with her daily. He started getting irritated with her constant whining- stop that Ragini- grow up- you have greater responsibilities now. Learn to adjust. I know, I am not there, but it is just a matter of a few more months. I will return very soon. I am returning anyways during my semester break- they have approved my internship at the hospital back home. I'll see you soon.

Poor Ragini, stuck here with her in-laws.
Pam is disgusting as always.

I hope Nishi's arrival will wipe away the irritation from N. But will he be here in time to see their daughter's birth?

Thanks a lot blokes for the update.

I hope so too! Frankly, I was so let down by the FB on the show, decided to go an entirely different route that doesn't destroy Neil or Ragini's character. They just killed them off with that horrid FB 😡

Worse have been said by some mils to their dils, dear Rfan. I have personally heard some very horrible comments spewed out by very sick minds- those days, with joint families, no one kept a watch over their tongue nor realized that little pitchers had big ears! Also, it was a battle of control over the "affections" of the son and being the person who is revered (translation- feared) the most in the family. Weird stuff.
Fortunately, we can certainly say that many families have become more "enlightened" and such viciousness has reduced or more are becoming like Mr. Khanna- non interfering and just happy if they are happy.
