Hi everyone! I am new this forum and have been keenly watching this show since the start. It has been three weeks since the show started and I thought that warranted a rant/review of the show.
Firstly, I was incredibly keen on watching this show because even though the concept was old the thought was definitely new "Husband and Wife get divorced and not the parents". That was something that I had never thought of. So far I always imagined that parents get divorced, kids go with the parents who is financially stable and the other parent gets visitation rights. But the promos of this show made me think that people can never really get divorced if there are kids involved. Both the Mother and Father would always love their child and hence would have to be part of each other's lives if not as spouses then as a friend or an acquaintance.

While the thought behind the show has been novel, there have been quite a few things which have been very jarring.

1) The division of assets(read children) My first thought on watching the promo was, husband and wife get divorced and many years later the husband comes back to attend the daughter's wedding. Totally plausible. I assumed that they might have had another child who also lived with the mother. But not here! There are not 1 or 2 or 3 but 5 kids involved! Assuming that all are their biological children, what rationale (or lack of it) did the court use while splitting up the kids? To me it seems completely preposterous how they split up a pair of twins (Agham and Aarav), awarded the custody of a baby girl to her father? Aren't kids under the age of 5 left with the mother? Also, after having 5 kids together what could have possibly gone wrong for them to part ways. I wouldn't comment on this much since we are yet to know the reason behind the divorce. However, as a mother I feel there should be a bloody good reason for them to have split up. IF they show some random reason like misunderstanding for the split up it would be plan stupid.

2) Love for their kids - "Uske bacche, mere bacche". Random, radom, radom totally and completely random. All the 5 kids are theirs, how do they even live with the fact that they don't even know what the hell is happening in the lives of the other set of kids. I find this very bizarre and hard to believe that parents are only interested in the kids that are with him and not even a little bit bothered about the other set. I don't even see either of the parents yearning for their kids. At least Neil was shown getting emotional on Nishi but that is not enough. Why haven't they bothered or missed their other kids?

3) Pam - What do I say about this lady? She is too loud and obnoxious to be taken seriously. When I first read about Pam's role, I sympathized with her after all she is just a sister worried for her brother. But her obsessiveness and lack of common sense makes me laugh at her. She keeps calling Ragini manipulative and cunning but what is she? Isn't she trying to manipulate and organize her brother's life? She keeps talking about Ragini's kids as if they are the neighbor's kids. It would do well for this lady to remember that the kids with Ragini are also her brother's. CV's ought to tone down her character a little. She can be against Ragini without the theatrics as well.

4) Characterization of Neil & Ragini - Both characters while good in some scenes have not yet been able to gather any sympathy from me. The characterization has been over the top. What is with the blue/gray eyes for Ronit? Why couldn't they just go with his natural look? I can even forgive them for the blue/gray eyes, but what is with every girl just rolling her tongue out on seeing Neil? Talk about overkill. I am sorry, Neil looks good but not enough to stop traffic everywhere he goes. As for Ragini , she is loud and often contradicts herself. She says Neil has not bothered to inquire about her kids but then has she inquired about Neil's kids? Also, the way she dresses make me wanna shake her stylist. What is with the heavy kutch sarees and pencil like hair pin? Do they seriously expect us to believe that she can parade around the hospital all day in that saree with a chopstick poking out of her hair. This is how a lady looks like when she wears a hair pin .

5) Timeline of their life - I am mega confused on how they managed to have 5 kids, be divorced for 15 years and have the time to become a nurse and a Dr respectively and yet remain in their 40's?. Ragini's mother said that Ragini was a nurse and Neil a Dr. , till here I have no problem. Ragini says she got married when she was very young. Assuming she married when she was 18 and had her first kid at the age of 19 and then so on with the other kids. Where did she find the time to study in between having 5 kids? Doesn't it take like 3 years to study to become a nurse? I could be wrong but I find it hard to believe that Ragini could actually manage studies, pregnancy, bringing up her children without any problems.

I know that it is premature to assume a lot of things while writing this post and there is a good chance that CV's might provide us with answers for several of these questions. Also, the above is just my point of view, no offense intended to any set of fans.

It is too early to conclude anything.

few things are little clear from their attitudes shown till now.

Real culprit behind their separation is surely MU and ego.

Pam must have played fiddle for their separation. She became hysterical when Agam and Suhani wanted to attend their sister wedding.

Ranbir hating her mother from the bottom of his heart does gives us clue he saw his parent separation and understood the way in Pam's version. so there lies few tricks and misleading scenes.

Having 5 Kids doesn't mean they won't divorce. even 80 year old divorce nowadays.

Neil and Ragini has some kind of work mode that didn't suit them. they didn't want to change their character for others. but I didn't feel that way because their current nature seems to be opposite to that. surely someone placed some trick between them. they fall prey to it.

Ragini didn't get jealous seeing girls melting for Neil. she has trust on his character.

If Neil is not a kind of person taking care of kids, he won't have taken 3 kids with him. he won't have remember Nishi's birthdate so accurately.

till now EK is taking the show very smoothly and interestingly. hope she continues it further.

Ketkit,
I agree with u on all points & especially Ragini's dressing sense is awful. She needs an overhauling.

No one dresses in such a bizzare way in hospital. They shud get her to make a decent & neat bun & sober sarees(She looks as if she is advertising for Kutch saris). I understand they have to glamourise Ragini as its a telly serial but can make it a little more realistic with printed crepes, silks & chiffons saris. Ragini's character potrayal also looks harsh instead of emotional(as Neil keeps harping on!!!). Ragini's bitterness I can understand & empathise but not harshness.

True. How can one parent live with a set of kids not bothering about the other two?

3) Pam - What do I say about this lady? She is too loud and obnoxious to be taken seriously. Unless they want Pam to be plain irritating. Pam is the manipulative one selfish in her "love" for the kids. Talking against Ragini poisoning the kids against their mom. Frankly educated human beings do not discuss the other parent in front of the kids. Even if the other parent is at fault. In this case I do not know what Ragini did. And Pam and Neil live "abroad" Do they not at least know this ?

4) Characterization of Neil & Ragini - Both characters while good in some scenes have not yet been able to gather any sympathy from me. The characterization has been over the top. Chopstick ! OMG! This is too much. But that is what it looks like. It is a hair stick.

Exactly. I mentioned this in one of my threads too. How could Ragini be a "certified" nurse? When did she find the time to study? Even as she had so many kids? BTW they said Ragani got married when she was seventeen and had thefirst kid when she was eighteen. and then it looks like she had a kid every year or every year and three months. and then she left them all in Naani's care and went to study to become a nurse. Or she did the studying after Neil left her. another "beauty" is she started "dating" Neil when she was sixteen. and Neil is a doctor who does not know nor does he care that marrying such a young girl and having so many kids so early in life in such a short span of time is not very right. If they were so much in "love" why did not the love hold good for a misunderstanding. what did he do for them to separate?

I know that it is premature to assume a lot of things while writing this post and there is a good chance that CV's might provide us with answers for several of these questions. Also, the above is just my point of view, no offense intended to any set of fans.

So true the comment on Neil. Why do they have to show the character as someone who "walks like this. Talks like this" etc. That is too much praise. We are ordinary human beings after all. If someone is a good doc or good something praise them. But not too much. That too the insensitive Naani talking about Neil when her daughter was not there it looked like she did not care for her daughter . She was into her son in law. There was no need to sing his praises this way. And then the New York scene where all girls are "willing to commit suicide" for Neil that was so stupid. It is selfish world if someone makes a show of "committing suicide" it is for their own selfish reason. Because nobody is that stupid. And the scene where Dr. Neil is dating a lady and then walking away after saying horrible things to her insulting her that was really nasty. That too the onion rings and "mouth stinking" was too mean and in bad taste. When a person drinks so much their breath also smells of alcohol. and then walking along New York streets with bottle in hand "drinking straight out of bottle" could have been out of any Hindi movie. Such nonsense. That too a man living abroad does that? Wouldn't the police catch him? With so much drinking he should catch a taxi not even drive.

👏👏Before I write, I would just like to say hi! I'm also new on this particular forum, and I watched the first week before taking a short break and catching up now so I guess there's much to see.
Initially I was not certain how they would take the show. Like you, I thought they'd show that maybe wife took the kids and the dad appears now and then to shower them with gifts - hence the typical difference between parents. Or at least he would keep some form of contact, thus making sense of the title card.
Because if someone has been out of my life for 15 years, no personal experience involved, but I would think that I wouldn't be very quick to say parent's unconditional love. Still, it's a new idea like you said so not too bad.

While the thought behind the show has been novel, there have been quite a few things which have been very jarring.

1) The division of assets(read children) My first thought on watching the promo was, husband and wife get divorced and many years later the husband comes back to attend the daughter's wedding. However, as a mother I feel there should be a bloody good reason for them to have split up. IF they show some random reason like misunderstanding for the split up it would be plan stupid.

Honestly speaking, when I see the flashbacks it actually seems to me like they randomly picked and chose the kids - like how you two opposing captains of a game randomly picking and choosing teammates from a crowd of people😆😆
Also, I don't think it's a very common practice to actually prohibit parents from meeting with their children unless they're criminals or they hurt the kids?
About the split-up, I could perhaps say that immaturity and they're respective strong-headed personality clashes could have easily thrown them apart. Either that or some important event occured that separated them instant - until they tell us I guess we'll just have to keep guessing haha

2) Love for their kids - "Uske bacche, mere bacche". Random, radom, radom totally and completely random. All the 5 kids are theirs, how do they even live with the fact that they don't even know what the hell is happening in the lives of the other set of kids. I don't even see either of the parents yearning for their kids. At least Neil was shown getting emotional on Nishi but that is not enough. Why haven't they bothered or missed their other kids?

Ironically, I thought it was the other way around. With the little bit they showed about the money-saving thing from Ragini, I'm guessing she keeps it to herself and doesn't tell the others about them. I'm just going to pretend that one day they'll spring upon as all the missed birthday cards, cupboards stashed with gifts, dusty chest in the storeroom with their baby things 🤣
But Neil seemed completely blase about it lol, calling his own daughter "woh ladki" even after she clearly told him she's her daughter😆
On the whole though, I too find the us-yours thing rather weird. Being stubborn and arrogant would have made sense immediately after the divorce but 15 years on, if you're seriously treating your own children as his and hers, I don't really know what to say about being parents :/

3) Pam - She keeps talking about Ragini's kids as if they are the neighbor's kids. It would do well for this lady to remember that the kids with Ragini are also her brother's. CV's ought to tone down her character a little. She can be against Ragini without the theatrics as well.

Right! I honestly do not understand how they expect us to believe that she legitimately treats one half as her own children and the other half as greedy good-for-nothings. It's extremely unbelievable that a person can be this selfish and so loving, caring all at the same time.
Then again how do we blame her when the parents themselves are so quick to label all of them yours and mine?😒
On a side note, I think her makeup looks awful🤢

4) Characterization of Neil & Ragini - Both characters while good in some scenes have not yet been able to gather any sympathy from me. The characterization has been over the top. What is with the blue/gray eyes for Ronit? Why couldn't they just go with his natural look? Do they seriously expect us to believe that she can parade around the hospital all day in that saree with a chopstick poking out of her hair. This is how a lady looks like when she wears a hair pin .

It's very unbelievable and I'm guessing this is where our sense of reality and complete, unrealistic fantasy begins😒 The whole birthday party nonsense where all of Suhani's friends brought gifts for Neil? Seriously?

Ragini really looks like she wants to go home ASAP in the hospital😆 Wearing a white coat does not automatically make you hospital staff!!

This is the main clue to the fact that we are watching an EK serial!👏 Time and age have no place in her serials and so from day one itself we are apparently supposed to believe that these achievements are possible in such a short time. I guess on Neil's side it is, because he obviously spends zero time with his kids and hence all of it on work, but wouldn't Ragini have had some problems at the start?
And where is the beautiful-looking mansion they were presumably living in, in all of the flashbacks?

I know that it is premature to assume a lot of things while writing this post and there is a good chance that CV's might provide us with answers for several of these questions. Also, the above is just my point of view, no offense intended to any set of fans.

Why are Agham and Suhani acting like babies and not typical teenagers US or otherwise! As you rightly said they can call the police if someone hits them. Also do you seriously expect teenagers to "goto their room"when you say so? And how old is Ranbeer, he acts like a 50 year old not a twenty something!

She is a Superwoman! or StarPlus herione! wait this is not SP😉
Also say she got married at 18, had Ranbeer at 19, He is supposed to be 20 therefore she is 39 not 40. Ok perhaps, They have been separated for 15 years, so she got divorced at 24. So she had Nishi at 21 since she is 18,Then Agham and Aarav have to be twins and they are 17, she had them at 22 and Suhani the 16 year old, she had 23 and she had a divorce at 24. How soon do divorces get processed in India?

Also how did they split the kids then other than perhaps Ranbeer who was 5 years and a few months all the other kids are <5. They did not cry and ask for the mother? besides he took 3 and she got 2?
who writes this stuff????

The concept was intriguing, but it is turning into a typical ekta show!
