Even in the prologue, La calls him Arnav whenever just two of them together, he too calls her La and Lavanya both.. Arnav trying to guess La's mood, siding La but blaming Manali, interestingly they were close enough..

In chapter 8, Arnav thinks - "Trying to shake the bittersweet memories, Arnav walked towards their bedroom. He hadn’t slept in there in months. He had in fact, held himself on the ground floor and refused to go up during the last few months, never seeing the need for it. Now that Khushi had moved out of there, most likely forever, technically he was supposed to go back to the master bedroom. And slowly but surely, he dragged himself there." This to me indicates neither he himself used the master bedroom in Shantivan nor La stepped in there. Not sure about the penthouse & two timing though... But I feel like others he would not two time or take Khushi to penthouse if he spent time with La there. Still curious to know how Khushi got to know his affair and is really misled about the details?

I agree with Arilip - He gave in to lavanya and that hurt his ego!!! So instead of redeeming himself, he sought justification for this in divorce!!! This is exactly why I had a feeling sex was one time but Puja debunked this, after which La is aggressive showing rights on him interfering in his personal decisions ..

I also agree with Tashi, Puja, Coderlady, ofcourse Bollybabe and almost everyone else - Keep the affair aside, he treated Khushi like complete trash in last few months -> deserting her for her desire to have kids, expecting her to give up family too when she is already lonely, staying separate & sleeping with other woman, Giving hopes by not cancelling party, Khushi is last one to know about the divorce that too via his secretary and then suddently reappering in her life after months & expect her to forgive & forget! His mindset was clear, explain to get closure for himself for 10 long years relationship and divorce, he has movd on in his mind and never feels he still loves her...

He needs to put himself in her shoes and think! Ultimately as coderlady said, I am curious to know how cad he really was, how long was the affair & his thoughts during that time, his excuse for his bad behavior with Khushi and most important real reason to not have the baby!

As BollyBabe always wished, I want this Khushi to have everything she desired, as Arnav knows anyone will love her and she should be respected and loved and have a wonderful family adn her own kids!

Arpita, please ignore us being detectives with crazy rantings and give us next chapter asap... You are calm before bringing in the next storm!

Guys, I know there’s a lot that I need to cover about Arnav 😅. Just a couple of chapters and y’all will have closure about Lavanya at least.

I am back after long and I’ll try and pick points from almost all comments, but please bear with me because I won’t be able to respond to each and every point.😅 so let me try and do justice to the kind of love you’ve showered on this tale. I’m extremely sorry in advance if I forget or skip a few comments. Life’s still pretty hectic.

Has Arnav ever thought from Khushi's perspective, he dumped his decision on her to not have kids she desperately wanted. And to avoid pressure from family, he further expected her to disconnect from the family just like he did. He didn’t give her proper reason or discussed either to deny kids, now they are rich, can afford plenty of servants, she can take up more responsibility of kids just like she took more responsibility in making the home. Did he step up to talk and find middle ground when he knew his decision is the main bone of content and caused hurt, unhappiness for her too? She clearly asked him will you ever change your decision and care for my feelings? That speaks volume of his selfishness and ignorance too.

In spite she kept trying and trying and when she gave up, he conveniently used it as she too is unhappy and doesn't want marriage; and that is because he did not want it anymore. it was him who distanced her, his way of life is Khushi must abide by his decisions and his choices of lifestyle too.. Khushi had no close friends or family to share and get advise from, she was any day lonelier & more hurt than Arnav because she is the one who is asked to sacrifice the biggest wish any woman can have especially traditional one like Khushi without proper justification.. How many sacrifices is he expecting from her? They both became stubborn not to compromise for the other but in the end, again it was Khushi who thought to fix differences while Arnav chose the divorce that too after cheating...

He had already moved on to satisfy his needs outside the marriage! He knows they both were unhappy and hurting, did he ask himself will Khushi cheat and go to another man to have a baby like he went to other woman for his physical needs?? He knew that she will never cheat on him ever and still he chose to cheat. He could have simply discussed, separated before cheating, dumped the decision of separation on her too as usual, then go to whoever he wants. His dalliance with Lavanya doesn't seem to be one time, his big fat ego or guilt or pride stopped him from talking to his wife across the room but allowed him to sleep with another woman and continue after; in the excuse of hurt, loneliness, and unresolved issues that he himself created in the first place, unbelievable ???

Arnav has gone through interesting personal changes while chasing power and money! He disanced himself from his own family, ghosted his wife of 10 years, most importantly who supported him through his worst days.. The Anamika, Lavanya or any other woman will never be his foundation like that, he knew it. Now even Lavanya was in his life for 6+ years, though she is equally horrible, despicable woman, she was there to warm his bed and to talk as well when he was lonely or whatever; but then he dumped her unceremoniously and ghosted her too... What does it speak about him? The changed Arnav to me is epitome of narcisst behavior; look at his decision making style, self importance & ego/pride, assumptions that suit his agenda, lack of empathy, very few boundaries for himself and the list goes on...

We cannot cover up Arnav's sin and behavior just because he worked hard all his life, so did Khushi. To me, there is no excuse for cheating, period! Sorry if I am coming too strong for a fictional story (I need to do ancestry, I sure have Polish roots, haha ) but in real world the mental toll it takes on the partner that got cheated, takes years to heal and they still keep blaming and asking themselves what they could have done differently, when actually they are not at fault.. This is universal no matter small town in India, London, or California where we live... Let us not glorify cheating, please… The story is of 21st century, more modern and open society where world has become pragmatic, no one dies from heartbreak.. These days divorces or separation are ok in small villages in India too.. I visit India every year and I am amazed how modern and realistic people have become where as people like us who have been staying out for years seem to be more culturally attached. Nothing negative, just an observation..

Arpita this is for you - story aisi likho ki khud ki story pe reply na karane wale bhi crazily reply karane lage.. I am never this serious in real life... ha ha

- Swati

This!!

These are my exact thoughts on cheating. Under all the anger and hurt, the kind of insecurity it will create is massive. People always start finding faults within themselves. Even if they’re not at fault, the feeling of you and your love not being enough for your partner will always hurt. They all wondered why Khushi acted so out of character and didn’t resist at all. This kind of trauma would do that to anyone. A strong one for sure, but Khushi is a human. I don’t think it’s a secret anymore just why her whole self confidence is in shambles.

You have conveyed my thoughts exactly on the Lucknow family connection. He has estranged himself so she must because he is uncomfortable with their questions. Arnav has been a good responsible son in the past. And, the responsibility is still there but it is on Khushi’s shoulders which he evidently holds against her. However, Arnav as the son of the family has been very entitled. His parents and Anjali have given up a lot so he has a shot at a better life. He has tried to make it up to them but he has “grown too big for his britches” Perhaps, this entitlement fuels his belief that he is a righteous man and thus what he does is for Khushi’s welfare. Lets him off the hook. He is entitled to live life HIS way. Allows him to dally with Lavenya and as you said, ignore Khushi instead of talk, even when she reaches out and seems to hold no rancor.

I have also expressed my ideas many times about his cheating and the kind of person Lavenya is. So what she became enamored over a novel and gave up her big salary to play a small part. Whoopty! That makes her a good person?

The way he handled the divorce shows the insensitivity, ungratefulness and just plain uncaring for Khushi guised in his egotistical way, because he was unhappy, and wanted out, she must be too and thus his ego couldn’t handle his guilt. His ego and guilt fuel him to say he has fallen out of love with her. Even though she still loves him, he is breaking her heart for her own good. I talked about this and his ego in some of my earlier posts also.

Swati, we seem to see things in this story in much the same way. Maybe, because we live in roughly the same part of the USA. I’m not Indian or Polish but I do have family ties with India and I have spent some time there. But so many of the themes of this story are universal. And in the end, people are people, women are women and yes, men’s behaviors sometimes are the same the world over.

Your last sentence makes me happy and sad at the same time 😅

Ah yes. While Arnav’s motives are still surrounded by question marks and guesses (may I say some being close to truth) his thoughts have been illustrated. He truly does think what he did is for Khushi’s benefit. His last action of bringing her back had also been backed by the same thought. That the place is dangerous for Khushi. That he was wrong in thinking a child is all she wanted. That he was wrong in thInking she was done with the marriage too.

But in all those actions that Arnav and Khushi’s parents took, a key ingredient is missing. That is Khushi’s will. Now we’ll obviously know towards the end of the story of what Arnav and Khushi’s family did benefitted her or not, but at present, all of them have collectively managed to hurt her.

“That depends on her Akash. Everything else depends on her. I just know that she needs to be back in Mumbai. Away from that place.”

“And are you going to tell her about Lavanya?”

“Yes” Arnav said in a determined voice. “I’m going to tell her everything. As soon as she is here.”

This part is what makes me think that it was not a prolonged affair? How is he not worried about telling her about Lavanya??

But then in the prologue he wishes she eavesdropped the conversation with Lavanya so he won’t have to tell her and she will agree to the divorce. So he knows that would be the breaking point. But still the thought never crossed his mind that the reason for her weird behavior the day he asks for divorce maybe because she came to know if his affair?

I’m literally pulling my hair trying to figure out.

This is a first for me too like many of you - being so involved in the story and reading comments obsessively and commenting so many times.

What have you done to us Arpita???

it’s going to be very difficult (maybe impossible even) for us to forgive Arnav for his infidelity God knows how Khushi is going to? I wish you give us an inkling about what is coming next 😀 so we stop obsessing

Thank you for all the love Shyami ♥️♥️♥️♥️

Yeah I know prologue day has a lot of questions to answer. Will reach there only in a couple of chapters. So at least you guys can go back and read the prologue in its full light :) :) :)

Something might make it possible for Arnav to repent and rectify his mistakes later, maybe he was tricked into something, but the hell his wife is going through right now is unredeemable….. Only if they had talked, if he had had the guts to tell her when it happened, it would have hurt a little less.

Its clear form the letter, Khushi had taken that step, to sort things out. Why had Arnav not thought about any reconciliation before filing for divorce papers? He wanted to talk but only after having those papers in his hand.

He has a lot of work in his hands if he is going to win back his wife.

Wonderful writing and story telling

This Khushi, is a very different character than in most stories where she is Chirpy, lively, confident..

Here you have managed to build a totally different image of a demure, graceful, somewhat subdued, a little unsure of herself.

Kudos to you 👍🏼

Thanks a lot Shveta ♥️♥️♥️

Yes. After all this distance, it was Khushi who was taking a step in his direction while Arnav has become surer about the divorce. You’re right like so many others. Arnav’s road to redemption is anything but easy 😊 Things could have hurt less or more with THE TALK. but the one thing we can say with surety is that Khushi was going t9 get hurt. In fact she already is hurting more than Arnav and the readers thought. Some of you were right. She did know :)

She has written almost everything that i feel too, some of those i wrote in my other comments also but sometimes while writing comments i get so overwhelmed and have so much to say and so many points to touch that it gets tough to articulate everything even after writing a thousand of comments in this thread.

The khushi cheating part that swati said is swirling in mind since the day arnav's emotional need and emotional indefidelity was discussed in the comments. Agreeing to everything she said, if arnav in the name of being emotionally lonely and unhappy can cheat then what about khushi? she was any day much more lonely than him (he admitted that in one of the chapters too) so did she cheat? No right..because she is a woman of substance, principles, morals and discipline, it is not just because of being traditional, many traditional people probably cheat too. He knows she will not, he knows she will just accept everything and walk away without making any fuss and so he took her for granted. Had she been someone who would have gone to take her revenge from him, he wouldn't have dared.

So i give a daamnn to his emotional needs.

It can be a man's house, but always a woman's home.

End this suspense arpita..i honestly can't take it anymore, this story has seeped under my skin. I have continuously said myself that today i am not going to feel this gloomy whole day for a fiction...but then on my way, i was listening to a Rabindra Sangeet and coincidently each line relates to khushi...this made me gloomy again and then the analysis by swati.

(I have always been praised for my insane self control, my real life friends will get crazy if they know this.)

Puja your comments are always, always so refreshing to read because you don’t hold back.♥️♥️♥️ I swear that majority of the suspense is coming to an end. What I can’t promise is that the story will turn happy in the upcoming chapters. I don’t see that happening at all.

Also, I liked that you shared another piece of song/art that reminded you of the story, it makes me happy. Someone mailed me a song too a few days back. She said she could hear ‘tere hawale’ in the background while Khushi wrote that letter and I was just overwhelmed. If you feel like sharing the lyrics with me, please do so. I know translations don’t do justice, but i will try. :) and Please keep sharing such things if you ever find one :)
