Chapter 32

She lay there without any movements going through the moments they spent till now searching for some faith, trust to hold on to this relationship when everything else is screaming at her to leave it and escape. From the time they met to till now all she did was care and love him while all he did was to support her but what happened now?

"What are you doing in dark?" his voice startled her, the darkroom creating a more haunting effect.

"Why?" if it was anyone else they would have simply walked away thinking that there was none in the room, but Shyam was not one of them nothing missed his alert senses.

He moved towards the direction from where her feeble voice was heard, the sound of her breathing helping him to locate her exact position on the floor. Positioning himself against the leg of the bed he uplifted Payal with her left arm a bit roughly, adjusted her body against him in such a way that she lay limp to her side facing his front.

"Because you would speak nothing other than marriage or go back, what happened to all that love which was showered upon me once?" he whispered nuzzling her neck, his right-hand drawing circles on her knee and left holding her waist a bit firmly not allowing her to move away from his touch, not that she has any strength left in her to move.

The once romantic touches today made her skin crawl, his voice for which she used to wait day and night to hear saying sweet nothings to her now wanted nothing but to stay miles away from it. When he simply ignored her pleadings and never answered her questions she started ignoring his advances towards her and used to keep herself locked all day long, but will he be in peace if at all she stayed according to her whims being under him? Shyam has his own way of responding to his unanswered knocks on her door, he started to devoiding her of food and water for hours at a stretch. When he felt satisfied that she has no energy left in her to argue back he would go back to make her eat food from his hands. Payal knew that if she lets this go on for the longer period his acts would start going bolder and nastier, now she understood why her family never want him to be a part of her life on closer sense, but she is not going to sit simply accepting everything coming her way, she would fight back, and strike back she will when he least expected so that she can have a larger, fairer chance to escape. The place they are currently living is far away from the city with no mode of communication to outer world the only way she can call someone to help is by using Shaym's phone which is highly impossible for her to lay hands on it. There is only one way to escape that is to run away from there.

Lavanya reached home with a cheeky smile, Rohan and she went on a date; while leaving he simply kissed her knuckles and handed her keys of a scooty, accepted that it was second hand but still he bought it for her from his savings as she was facing trouble daily traveling by local transport. He was sorry that it wasn't a brand new one and promised to get her one as soon as possible overwhelmed with his love for her she jumped on to him holding him tight and kissed his cheeks, and he didn't leave her until she promised to give it the other day too. She looked into her mother's room to see her sleeping peacefully, she turned back to move towards her room when her phone beeped with the message notification from Rohan asking her if she reached back safely. She replied, placed the mobile on the side table and went into the restroom to get freshened up before hitting the bed. By the time she had her bath her phone was continuously ringing, afraid that her mother would wake up due to her non-stop ringing phone she wrapped herself in a towel before coming to pick up the phone, as expected it was from Rohan. she was about to pick up when it disconnected, she immediately put her phone in vibration mode, just to be safe, within a second again the phone started to vibrate displaying Roahn's name. Ignoring her current attire she picked up and moved towards the window to speak with him.

Aman was still in the office, from the day Payal went away with Shyam his home was never a welcoming one for him anymore, wasn't there any way he could save her get back into their lives? Was he so much involved in his personal life that he never saw her love blooming towards that man? If at all he would have been more careful would he have been able to save her from this? Just like he came into this, Payal too was trapped into this, Shyam didn't love her, how was it possible for him to fake so much all the time for so many years? What is the reason for him to target his family? and who is Payal really then if not Madhu Bua's daughter? did she know this?

His phone rang indicating him that the man reached its destiny, Shyam wanted some reports, but he cannot be normal around him after knowing his true face hence he sent one of the trusted members to Shaym's address to deliver them.

Arnav sat in his rented room in Lucknow, holding his mother's photo wishing for her to be there with him at the moment to give some support to pass through all that is currently making his life a crossword puzzle. A sad smile contoured his face, if at all his mother is beside him then all this trouble wouldn't be there. At the moment he cannot even trust his father, wasn't it even enough that he led his life with a single parent now destiny is playing cruel games with him and snatching the other too? All his plans for a better-planned future are tossed into some dark the moment Khushi entered his life, not that he is complaining, the girl didn't even know that one thing will lead to other and will bring them to such a point that there will be no turning back without finding answers. What is surprising is how their lives were connected all the while from the start he thought that he will stand as support to her solving her misery but she was brought into his life by his mother to solve this. The need to see her, hear her increased tenfold at that moment and didn't let him sit quietly until he picked up mobile to call her at the shop.

"Hello, Arnav?" he smiled, she always had this soothing effect on him. The way they parted when he had to come to Lucknow flashed in front of him, he was such a fool to let her go, she was standing there in front of him asking him with her eyes to let her join him.

"Khushi.." a sudden sadness took over him, not allowing him to speak further, now if he thinks back he understood how badly he missed her presence beside him.

"How are you?" gulping the tears back he tried to be cheerful, least she gets worried thinking he is in trouble.

Khushi smiled to herself placing the receiver down. Arnav just called her to inform that he would be coming back by next day afternoon, his purpose of the visit didn't bear them anything fruitful but it was useless to stay there for a longer time as they don't know when the old man is going to return. His voice did seem troubled when he first said her name but he regained his composure within seconds, he asked how she is doing and informed her that he would return back the next day. She said okay an cut the phone but she didn't know how to explain how she felt at that moment when she understood she can see him in real not in dreams anymore.

Humming a song she arranged back the chart papers and sketch pens lying on the floor in draws and sat back on the floor taking a pen and paper into her hands. She decided before letting him know about the photoshopped image of his father, she would go back in her memories and try to jot down anything important which they left at that time. Once everything was written in sequence the only doubtful things are about Shakshy, Shyam, Akash, Gupta's and their involvement in this. Next comes Mr.Dilip, it is too good to be true for him to appear in front of them giving details of a person who he knew two decades ago, at the moment she didn't act suspicious nor she was but now when she thinks she did find it doubtful.

The landline started to ring when she got up to get some water.

"Hello.."

So eager to know more of Akash Nd Anjali's story. Guess that story will have more clues to present and Arnav's past. Is Akash even a positive character ? Was he and Shaym's father together in some shady business and may be after Anjali's death, Akash want to stay clean, hence this secrecy.
