CHAPTER 49

His entire night faded away beside her. nurse was coming to check her temperature in every hour but he made it his responsibility to check it in every 20 minutes. When the temperature was being adamant and was not willing to drop from 103 degree, he was getting furious. After injecting som new medicines in her, finally the fever dropped to 100 degree. The entire while he kept caressing her forehead or massaging her wrist so that the IVs wont give her pain. He was noticing slight swelling in her wrist where the IVs were connected but he couldn't do anything to soothe her pain. She was sleeping peacefully but he knows once she wakes up she'll be in terrible pain.

His body got tensed sitting on the uncomfortable chair for whole night waiting for her to wake up. His wait finally came to an end when her eyes flickered and she she groaned slightly in pain.

"Khushi..." he said softly gently caressing her hair and after a long struggle she opened her eyes and an automatic smile crept on his lips.

"Are you okay?" he asked hoping to hear a yes from her. She nodded in response as the oxygen mask was giving her tough ime.

"You just wait...I'll call the doctor." He said towering over her and he once he pressed the button the nurse was present in her room in no time. The doctor came along and checked her.

"Now you don't need this." he said removing her mask and Arnav took a sigh of relief. That was just making her condition look worse.

"It hurts." She whispered as she was facing troubles while speaking.

"It will hurt for a while...you'll be better in a day or two." Doctor assured her.

"Mr Raizada, she is progressing now. but we have to take some precautions. She'll be on liquid and light diet for few days and try to avoid giving her anything cold, make sure she eats warm." Docotr told him.

"Her fever?" he asked.

"It's under control...we will monitor her today as well." Doctor declared.

"When can I..." Khuhsi began to speak but a wave of cough didn't let her speak further and a strong pain coursed her chest. Arnav immediately lurched forward to get a firm hold on her arms. He made her sit and rubbed her back for her coughs to subside.

"You shouldn't speak much Khuhsi..." He said while rubbing her back and she leaned into him to seek the comfort.

"When can we take her home?" he asked the doctor completing her sentence for her.

"She needs to stay here for atleast 3-4 days." Doctor informed them.

"I don't want to stay here." she whispered in a feeble, cracked voice which was only audibly for ARnav to here.

"It's the matter of few days." He said calming her down but he heard her sobbing.

"She needs to rest...we'll be back to check her soon." Docotr said and he nodded and she kept resting her head on his chest as he embraced her sideways.

"Khushi it's just a mater of few days...you are crying as if I making you stay for the rest of your life." he soothed her.

"I don't like it here. she cried.

"Nobody likes being here Khushi butu we need to get you better." He told her.

That was the moment he wanted to live so desperately from yesterday. He wanted her to be fine, to talk to him again minus the crying portion.

"You want to use washroom?" he asked and she nodded.

"Come." he said and she looked at him with a horrified look making him chuckle.

"Don't worry I'll be calling a help for you. I am not coming in." he said and she reddened in embarrassment. This was the Khushi he was longing to talk. Khush, who ould make him chuckle in even in the worst situations. Deep down he was getting addicted to her, her happiness but this addiction was hard to accept as he knew this would be very lethal.

Once the help arrived Khuhsi went to freshen herself up and he took the opportunity o inform the family. His DI called almost every hour and he knew h wouldn't have slept until he urged her to rest for the baby's sake. Akash called twice and he assured him everything is fine and he don't need him. once he called the Raizada' back at home relaxed but were coming to the hospital anyways.

"I don't want to eat this." she declared as the nurse bought her breakfast.

"Ma'am please you need to finish this." Nurse pleaded.

"I can't." she pleaded back.

"Sir please tell her to eat." Nurse approached Arnav who was observing everything from afar. H couldn't speak a thing as he know the food his wife was being forced to eat was something he wouldn't eat himself. It was a tasteless soup with only little salt in it. it was on strict doctor's recommendation who hd said that she could pnly eat such plain food.

"Khuhsi you need to take your medicines." He told her.

"I-I..." she was on the verge of crying as she felt severely helpless. She needs medicines. Her pain was rising again and she can't take medicines with an empty stomach but neither she could eat this food. Her tastebuds are already dead and she don't want to torture the reaming. Arnav took the spoon from the nurse and allowed her to leave.

"I know it doesn't taste good but I cant let you eat anything else." He said in a defeated tone and she kept crying.

"Khushi please don't make me guiltier than I already am. You slept out because of e, you caught up this fever and the infection because of me Khuhsi...and all this is happening because I forced you in this situation." He said looking down in guilt.

"You...I-I am not here because of you." she said.

"Please Khushi I know it." he said and she looked down.

"I will eat." She said feeble extending her hand to take the spoon from him but all the tubes and IVs connected were making it difficult for her.

"I'll help you." he said filling the spoon with yellowish liquid and blew the steam away to cool I donw a bit. She opened her mouth unwillingly but took the soup in. she gulped it down and she made a sour face.

"I'll ask the doctors to discharge you earlier." He said filling the next spoon and she just nodded. She ate in silence and was she was done he kept the bowl away and wiped her face. Giving her the medicnes he made her lay on the bed as he wanted her rest as much as she can. She looked terribly weak and the constant bouts of pain make her look vulnerable. He sat on the chair back and the awkward silence consumed them. he wanted to clear the atmosphere between them. he can't live like this forever and with a constant fear on his head that what she might do next to risk her own health.

"Khushi ...?" he said her name and she looked at him.

"I know it's not the right time..." he began but she interrupted hm.

"Say it Arnavji..." he looked at her...in her eyes. he can't lose her. he doesn't want to give her any option which would take her away from him. He knows he is being selfish, but who doesn't like to be loved. Who doesn't like to cared? Who doesn't like to be pampered?

"Khushi...I-I never ever wanted you to see those entire thing. Infact I wanted to come clear from all those things. I never wanted to hurt you intentionally. This marriage...this marriage we both know how it took place. somewhere we both were forced but you accepted it. I agreed for all this because of Di and you know it. I won't lie but even after our marriage I continued my relations with Lavanya but when I started knowing you better it didn't felt right keeping you in the dark and then this happened." I said and huffed loudly.

"I had decided as long as we are together, I won't see Lavanya anymore." He declared but still he didn't had the courage to look at her so he kept looking down.

"This was the longest I heard you speaking." She joked to lighten the atmosphere and he looked up at her feeling awfully guilty.

"You don't have to do all this now. I shouldn't have reacted that way. I guess I took the roles way too seriously. I forgot that all these things are temporary and I am not your real wife. I am the one who should be sorry here as I came in between you and Lavanaji but now you don't have to worry about anything. As per our contract once Di delivers the baby safely ...I'll go." She told him and he grabbed her hand.

"Khushi...y-you..."

"In the remaining time, we'll think of something." She added.

"Can I ask you one thing?" he said in a low voice holding her hand tight and she nodded.

"In this remaining time...I know I messed up quite badly...but can we be friends again?" he asked and the silence consumed them again. Their mind drifted to the memories where once she was the one asking for his friendship. She wanted to take a step forward in their relationship but everything came crumbling down to her feet as she was unaware of the reality.

"I-I..." she stuttered in completing her sentence but her one word Yes' or No' holds a lot of meaning to one person.

"Khu-" his sentence was interrupted by a sudden knock on the door and the door opened to reveal the Raizadas.

"Khushiji..." Anjali walked in holding a bouquet of white roses in her hand.

"Di." Khuhsi tried to sat up but Arnav didn't let her sit.

Anjalji walked in giving the flowers to Arnav she hugged Khuhsi's laying figure.

"You scared us." she said in a croacked voice.

"I am fine Di."Khushi told her.

"Why you never told anyone you are feeling sick." She asked in a low voice and Khushi chewed her lower lip in.

"Chotte once your wife is fine I am going to scold her very badly." She told his brother and he smiled at her.

"But first it's your turn..." His Di gave him the threatening look and Khuhsi giggled from behind but that stressed her chest making her wince in pain.

"You okay Khuhsi?" Arnav asked and sat beside her on the bed and she nodded.

"Khushiji you should always keep your inhaler close to you...whatever happened it was very dangerous." Akash interrupted.

"Yes...and I don't want that to happen again...Doctor's words just scared me a lot and we all learnt a lesson." Anjali said.

"Chotte you go home now...you have been here entire night...go and get some rest." Anjali said.

"I am fine Di." He said.

"You didn't took your medicines." Khushi's feeble voice reached his ear and he looked at her.

"I am here for her...go with Akash and freshen yourself up." Anjali said.

"But Di how would you manage alone." He said.

"I am pregnant not sick, I can manage." She said and he looked at Khuhsi with uncertainty. He didn't want to go but when her eyes assured him he decided to make a quick visit home.

"I'll be quick." He told Khushi and she nodded.

"Let's go Bhai." Akash told him and they both left the hospital making sure to be back soon.

Precap- "Khushi I bought someone who desperately wanted to see you." Arnav told her and she frowned. He bought his hand in front and her little Coco almost jumped at her.

"Thank you so much." She kissed Coco all over and he watched them having their own reunion.
